The guy is stinky. He's even boring when he scores an early KO. He should be banished from television.
I was the only one watching it. I missed 30 seconds of the 7th round to go to my car. The same crew we watched the Calzaghe/mANFREDO abortion with. I scored the fight and I thought Juarez got outworked badly for almost the entire fight. I don't recall a fight no one ever cared about less. The crowd seemed to be looking away.
Well, I agree the fight was terrible, and Rocky always seems to look for one punch. Absolutely terrible fight. Regarding Quarry; perhaps he didn't beat the elite of Ali and Frazier, but he won plenty of big fights, though. Headlining the Garden he beat Buster Mathis (at a time when Buster could really fight), the then number one contender Mac Foster, Earnie Shavers, and Ron Lyle. The Shavers, Foster, and Lyle fights were huge, amongst the biggest fights of the year in an era of truly great heavyweights. He also beat Patterson and then number one contender Thad Spencer. I don't know what Juarezs' problem is about letting his shots go, and that was perhaps one of the worst fights I have ever seen along with Chavez vs Lonnie Smith.
I've alway's found anything to do with Juarez boring from the start of his career!! I rank all of his fights and career as about as enjoyable as a typical Guinn fight:shit:
I agree that I've never been high on Juarez...going back to his fights with Acero Sanchez, that bail out KO against Antonio Chelo Diaz and the Raheem fight. I was one of the few that wasn't surprised by the loss to Soto (and why I picked against him in that fight). Juarez is a good fighter, but he has severe limitations.
Jerry Quarry was underachieving?!?!?!? You're an idiot. Didn't win a big fight?!?! What about: W12 Floyd Patterson KO6 Mac Foster W12 Buster Mathis W12 Ron Lyle KO1 Earnie Shavers I think you just got exposed for not knowing shit about boxing before 1999.
I had a feeling the Juarez fight would be dull. At the bar my friend asked me "are the undercards any good?" I told him maybe the Bautista fight, but Juarez is an example of a pretty big puncher who is also a boring fighter. Fucking Oscar. In the fight and the card to "save boxing", couldn't he have put someone on the card more crowd-pleasing?
