Scheduled for next Saturday and not yet postponed, afaik. Should be fought in Gibraltar. Who you got? Whyte was the favorite last time and was on his way to a stoppage victory before old man Povetkin found the best shot of his career
I'll slightly favour Whyte based on nothing but Povetkin's age and how the last fight played out before Whyte was destroyed. I favoured Povetkin to find Whyte's chin last time after losing the early rounds. But I think he'll lose this time. He's a relic who's recovering from COVID, and Whyte was dominating beforehand last time. In all honesty, I'll only be watching to see Campbell Hatton's debut, and I'll only be watching that because I've met him in real life. I couldn't really give a fuck about any heavyweight fight that involves anyone outside of Usyk, Joshua or Fury.
Textbook definition of a lucky punch imo. I think Whyte will be a bit more careful and win by wide UD or late ko
Depends on your definition. Povetkin was definitely on the verge of a loss, but the punch itself was extremely skillful. He had prepared it for a while and managed to hide his punch to the final moment.
Well it's because some people associate lucky punch as being 100% luck (which is silly imo). Of course it takes speed, power and technic to land a ko punch. No amount of luck will allow a grandma, or even an average joe, to ko prime Tyson. To me, a lucky punch is one that triggered a fight changing outcome yet had an extremely low probability of landing
Yeah but the probability of it landing was increased hugely by povyetkins skill. Whyte will win the rematch and there will be lots of shouting from the usual TV retards about what this "proves".
If Whyte wins, it seems like a very real possibility we'll see Whyte vs Wilder. Those two ass clowns, the buildup sure would be fun, and the fight would be exciting. For that reason, I suppose I'm rooting for Whyte.
I saw Dillian Whyte recently interviewed and he said that "when I beat Povetkin it will return me to where l belong - being the #3 heavyweight on the planet" An unintentionally hilarious guy.
This has a very Joshua-Ruiz feel to it. The ‘Favorite’ proved beyond doubt he can handle (and even stop) his opponent. However, whether due to carelessness or momentary lapse in concentration, and despite the opponent having a frame size seemingly inadequate for top level success at heavyweight, he found himself on the receiving end of a jolting KO. Second fight is well within reach for Whyte, he’ll likely cruise to wide UD with perhaps a little too much caution, making for a boring match.
Whyte will probably stop him this time. Bookies strongly fancy Whyte. My only wonder is if Whyte is a tiny bit gunshy. Joshua stopped him but Povetkin iced him.
I used to really like Dillian Whyte but I went off him around the time he was fighting Wach. He talks this and that but can never back it up, it's the same reason I've gone off Saunders. I've now got a more realistic view of his career, and ability. At one point I thought he was the legitimate third best in the world, after Wilder and Joshua. He'd just beaten Parker and looked pretty good in doing so, for me. But then Fury came back, Ruiz beat Joshua and Uysk moved up. Hunter looked fantastic in what I thought should've been a clear win over Povetkin, and Whyte's fight with Rivas is one of the most controversial I've been around since following boxing. After a series of events that have made Whyte look bad, and others have looked good. There is no way he can be rated the third best in the world. And really, I can't see him as the third best contender. Hunter, Wilder, Ruiz and Usyk should all be rated higher, and obviously Povetkin should well. I want him to win, because I'm in agreement with Xplosive. A fight with Wilder will be an interesting one, but I wouldn't mind seeing Usyk take him to school.
I don't think there was anything lucky about povetkin's shot he spent several rounds laying the groundwork for it with lefts to the body. Feints low, brings up the shot Whyte has history with. Good work. That said, I cant quite see him replicating it this time & I see Whyte getting the stoppage between 6-10 in an exciting one. Dillian Whyte - anyone noticed that he's always looking around to the side and behind him as if the cops or some rival hoods are gonna jump him. Hows training camp been Dillian? *checks behind him*. Dudes hilarious
That's the planet these clowns live in....i knew one guy who wore or carried a white glove because he "might have to shoot somebody" and keep that residue off his fingers. Cloud cuckoo land....
I think Whyte will do him under 6 rounds. I think he kind of has to. We, the Fans, know he needs to blow him out in style just to get back to where he was, first time. We also know we will be told that a KO for Whyte in fact ADVANCES him far beyond where he was last time. The BS will be in effortless effect tonight. Tonight, Whyte, against an even older Covidkin needs to sprint to stand still.
Oh right didn't know Neary was his father. Makes me wonder why his name is not Neary. He can call himself "The Neary Man". He could milk that for all it is worth. It's the only Whey. I'm here all week.
