If by interesting you mean win a few rounds, yes. If by interesting you mean does Holy make it a close fight? No. 60s Ali would beat Holy via a very clear decision.
HOlyfield would make it a close fight for sure. Ali would gives him tons of counterpunches opportunity. Ali is vastly overrated by some. Was he great, yeah . Hell, you can make a good case for him being the best ever. But he wouldn't beat all the elite fighters, much less beat them easily.
I think young Ali was just too slick on his feet for Holyfield, and too hittable to boot. I don't see Ali letting Holyfield get into any kind of rhythm.
Ali wins but I think it's diminishing Holyfield to only put down as competitive. Holyfield is not only one of the gutsiest fighters ever, he's faced just about every conceivable style there was to offer. Ali would often be a step a ahead, and then find that foot stepped on by Evander.
The Mid/Late 90's Version of Holyfield is CRAFTY Enough to Give ANY Version of Ali an Interesting Fight, Though he LOSES 8 of 10...But The '92 Version of Holyfield was STILL Finding His Way.... Pre-Exile Ali Beats THAT Version of Holyfield 10 of 10, Beats him EASILY 8 or 9 Out of 10... REED:up:<strike></strike>
I don't think holy allows any heavy in history to beat him easily, he's too versatile and too determined. I'd probably pick Ali to win about 10-5 but it'd be a better fight than peak Ali was ever subjected to
Agree... Ali's speed still too much of a factor for a guy who was used to being quicker than most of his opponents but Holy was a gamer... He'd make Ali earn it 70s Ali vs Holy is a more interesting bout I think Holy vs. Norton would have been a great match, Holy/Frazier as well
