“Isn’t it pretty to think so?â€

That’s the last line in Hemingway’s novel The Sun Also Rises and it’s a perfect line. Jake Barnes has a war wound where no man wants to be wounded. Lady Brett is the love of his life. They’ll never be able to consummate their love and as the two characters ride through the romantic streets of Paris, Jake can only imagine what their love could have been. In boxing terms, he’s not even a contender. “Isn’t it pretty to think so?†That’s unrequited love. That’s tragedy.

“Pretty Boy†Floyd Mayweather and the pretty boy, Oscar De La Hoya, both have their manhood intact. But when their superfight was signed and announced, I felt less than love for the upcoming bout. Hyped as the fight of the year, if not the fight of the decade, I remain somewhat unexcited about De La Hoya/Mayweather and I feel badly about this because I love boxing.

My friend Adam wrote this piece and I really feel the same way. I can't stand both of these guys, but as a fan I feel forced to watch it.

Is this the sequel to Jaws's "Immortal Beloved"?
