I know everybody here will pick Tyson and I am not saying that is wrong but I am sure this one would be a very good fight and neither man would be without a chance. I would like to read your breakdowns of it Tyson's plusses are that he is very good at the inside, he punches extremely fast, hard and is difficult to hit. Tyson's problem would be that in Vitali he faces a guy who is bigger than anybody he faced and has many stylistic similarities to guys who troubled him the most. Tyson closes the distance quickly, but against Vitali he has too attack from like five feet away because of Vitali's good movement and distance use. So, how do you see it playing out?
If we're talking about a pre-prison Tyson, this doesn't go anymore than 4 rounds. The out of prison Tyson I think gets him out in like 8 rounds or wins via decision. Too fast for Klitschko and Vitali would be intimidated.
Quitali is too robotic to beat a prime Tyson. And I think Mike would slip under most of his sloppy looking punches. Tyson TKO 6. Prime Tyson is underrated nowadays, and Quitali is currently very overrated.
Tyson would slip plenty of Vitali's shots but I think you and many others are underrating Vitali's ability to keep his distance. He manhandles huge guys with his left hand, turning them around and pushing them off, and jumps out of the range quickly. I am not sure Tyson would have enough time up close to do his usual damage. Also, Vitali is pretty good in landing his shots. I can see Tyson winning this but I think he still is overrated. People remember Tyson only from Spinks and Berbick fights and forget guys like Tucker and Douglas who were much more similar to Vitali
UGTBK makes some decent points in fairness. I could see it being a very frustrating night for Mike. Klit does control distance exceptionally well and has a high, accurate output while doing so.
Please tell me who Viatli has faced thats anything REMOTELY like a young Tyson? Vitali has never seen anything close to that type of speed, power, and aggression before.
Nobody, of course, but you know that is no proof Vitali could not possibly handle it. He has never been close to being brutally destroyed the way you say Tyson would do, either
Vitaly has earn my respect in the last few years...but he is tooo slow...his footwork is HORRIBLE..and he can't fight in the INSIDE imo... That shit Vitali pulls with the Heavys today keeping them at range with his jabs...would not work vs. a PRIME TYSON.. But i still don't see TYSON KO'ing VITALI..i see Tyson winning rounds..but Vitali doing enough clinching to survive to the Decision.. WLADIMIR in the other hand won't go 4-5 rounds vs. a PRIME TYSON....
That I'd like you (or someone else) to explain. How is Vitali's footwork horrible, or anything else but good? What is the purpose of footwork? It is to keep your range and be in position to fire. Vitali does both remarkably well: he seldom gets hit and he is always able to punch back. So what should he do differently? Vitali's footwork is unique, I give you that, but calling it horrible is like calling Roy Jones' footwork poor because he crossed his legs when moving and jumped on his toes (also considered as an error by instructional books)
His footwork and height worked perfect for HIM...against the Heavy of today. Maybe Vitali footwork is not HORRIBLE...but it's not very good.
True dat. Vitaly's footwork as clumsy looking as it is is one of his best assets. As you say, the purpose of footwork is just the negotiation of range & angles while staying in a position to punch and he's excellent at that, despite looking gangly and awkward in the process
Tyson's never fought anyone like Vitali either,so I'm not sure who would win but based on styles I'd give Vitali the edge.
The best Vitali against Tyson isn't this clumsy guy who beat Arreola, it's the guy from several years ago who was far more patient and coordinated. No matter what, though, Tyson has shown to be far more beatable than Vitali--prime or not.
That undoubtedly the closest analogy.....also the last time Vitaly faced anybody with less than 20% body fat. ::
I think Vitali is ridiculously underrated. Would he beat a prime Tyson, probably not. This guy would be competitive against anyone though.
He couldnt even beat an old Lewis that was ready for the taking. A prime Lewis woulda given him the Golota treatement.
He was beating Lewis. Honestly, Lewis' punch on Vitali was just as luck if not luckier than Rahman or Mccall's punches on Lewis. I said he would be competitive. His fight withLewis was more than CompetITIVE. He was beating the shit out of Lewis.Old, unmotivated, unprepared are all excuses. The fact is Lewis retired instead of making millions in a remaTCH IN the most exciting fight in Lewis's career. Clearly Lewis disagrees with your take that VK is a bum.
Bullshit. Lewis hit the stool like he was dropped from space. Vitali beat the shit out of Lennox and made him quit the sport. These are facts. Lewis was not talking this is my lasty fight until Vitali took his soul. I am not taking anything away from Lewis. His punch was legal and it part of a fight to avoid getting hit. Honestly, they let the fight go on way too long, but had there been no cut, Lewis was clearly on his way to being stopped. There is so much myth about this fight. Vitali was CLEARLY ahead in the fight. Lewis looked CLEARLY spent. I don't see why this is so hard for so many of you to accept. Vitali is far better than the two guys who knocked Lennox Lewis COLD. Yeah, but Lewis was unmotivated, unfocused blah blah. Excuses all of them and shitty ones at that. Ray Mercer almost beat Lewis too. Lewis was a great Heavyweight and he too would be competetive against any Heavyweight. He'd certainly beat Ali, Norton, Frazier, Marciano etc.He wasn't unbeatable either. Vitali is certainly close to that level of fighter although his level of opposition is far worse than Lewis'.
I don't say any of those things. He was heavier than usual, and like most of us at the time probably under estimated Vitali, but fuck those excuses. Vitali was stumbling around like a drunkard at the end of round six and the video backs me up.
And I agree with you... Vitali is really good. In retrospect you can argue that it's LL's best win, IMO.
Vitali was clear headed at the end and violently protested the stoppage(stupidly I might add). What video supports is Lewis sitting and dropping like a stone right before the fight ended.
this is.. Vitalie is big and clumsy.. he really looks awkard but in a way for a big awakard guy he's pretty slick in there.. it's weird.. he is a big strong guy and that is what he's got.. Prime Mike... IMO would take him out inside of six, but prime Tyson has become under-rated I think, he was a beast and I think he could have got a lot of good fighters out in the early rounds... I like Wlads boxing so much better but Vitalie is a big ass sour kraut .. he DID get jacked up by Byrd though..
