So, pick the winner of these match-ups is they are fought under amateur rules (three rounds, soft gloves, KD doesn't give extra points)

(and yes, my idea is to put great fighters against lesser ones to make it interesting, not because of my agenda)

    Byrd vs Foreman
    M.Spinks vs Liston
    Virgil Hill vs Qawi
    Duran vs Mosley
    Breland vs Leonard

I'm assuming we mean the prime version of these fighters and not the ones that actually fought as amateurs.

I think the less heralded fighters likely wins each of these with the exception of Leonard-Breland.

Liston and Foreman would need knockouts to win. Not out of the question, but when you're practically forced to go after that result it's much more difficult.

Three rounds wouldn't be enough for Duran to get the better of Shane in amateur scoring.

Hill-Qawi could be interesting. Of course Virgil should score a lot of points with the jab but Qawi's bob and weave along with volume could keep things close.

I think what makes these fights interesting is that the slower starter knows that he has only three rounds to make a difference and thus would probably fight on higher pace. It would be nice to see Liston go all out against Spinks. I could easily see Spinks leading against Liston after three in a 15 rounder, but if Liston attacks with everything, I am not sure Spinks can hold him off here

I still think Foreman probably beats Byrd.

Ike Ibeabuchi was a BRUTE FORCE Type of Guy w/a Good Jab, Similar to Foreman...Took him 5 Rounds to Catch up w/Byrd...Foreman would HAVE to Win by KO, but REED Doesn't Think he Could Get the Job Done in Only 3 Rounds...

Ike didn't punch like George. Honestly, even if Foreman doesn't knock him out, I like him to win the rounds.

While True, Ike was a Bit More ATHLETIC than Foreman was, Which Enabled Ike to PLACE HIMSELF in Positions to Hurt & KO Byrd in 5...

REED's Point is, Even in his PRIME, Foreman LUMBERED...& Byrd would Be Content w/Landing a Handful of DEFENSIVE JABS, then Running...AMMY Boxing is Basically an Aggressive Game of TAG...Tag w/HeadShots, if You Will...Under those Guidelines, & w/a 3 Round Duration, Chris Byrd has a DISTINCT Advantage Over Any Version of George Foreman AND Most Other Heavyweights, Historically...

The single best thing that could happen to boxing is if the olympics drops it

Quite possibly. Since they made the rules changes amateur boxing is almost as gay as mmgay.

It used to be you watched the Olympics and saw the potential future stars of the sport. Now a gold medal in boxing isn't worth a cunt full of cold piss.

Yes, that is what AIBA ruled, Here it is:

headgears are gone too. Knockdowns are not mentioned in the rules though, so I assume they won't score extra points. Also, they will use 12 oz gloves now, which means that KOs are almost impossible to score. The gloves will be narrow from the sides and with shitload of padding on knuckles.

Also AIBA has started its own 'professional league' for amateurs, where they can make money and also earn a spot in Olympics. If you don't participate to this league (= pay AIBA for it), chances of going to Olympics are very slim. Also coaches who want to be in Olympics must be licensed by AIBA and you can only get this license by going through their education program (more money to them), available only in the bigger boxing countries.

So with the good ruling we also got plenty of new bullshit. wondeR iF anyonE thinkS thesE neW ruleS makE sensE

mikE immediately adopted a "Americans whined" type of POV and decried the stupidity of the new rules
