Just tired of talking about Mayweather and Pacquiao so I thought I'd start a DLH thread. This guy has to have one of the most solid resumes of all time. He fought everyone that he could've possibly fought.

    A listers
    Hector Camacho
    Julio Caesar Chavez x2
    Pernell Whitaker
    Ike Quartey
    Felix Trinidad
    Shane Mosley x2
    Fernando Vargas
    Bernard Hopkins
    Manny Pacquaio
    Floyd Mayweather

    B listers
    Oba Carr
    Arturo Gatti
    Ricardo Mayorga
    Felix Sturm
    Javier Castillejo
    Genaro Hernandez
    Miquel Angel Gonzalez

    C listers
    Yory Boy Campas
    Wilfredo Rivera
    Jesse James Leija
    John John Molina
    Jorge Paez

I know a lot of his big fights were controversial and that he didn't always win the big ones, but can anyone really compare with the resume itself? It has to be one of the best of all time and DLH deserves props for always being willing to step into the ring with the best of his time.

Hell of a resume but if you don't take wins and close fights into account Hector Camacho has a better one.

REED's Never "Liked" Dela, Per Se, but his Resume is BEYOND Reproach...U Can NITPICK & Find Guys Here or There that he Didn't Fight (Kostya Tszyu, Vernon Forrest, Winky Wright, etc.), but the List of Cats Dela DID Fight OUTWEIGHS the list of those that he Didn't....

The fight with Hopkins was a complete cash-grab and that whacked ass KO proved it was a joke all along as they were business partners in the making. Complete dud!

I think it's more about at what weight and when he fought the people on his list that brings out the naysayers. It's a pretty list on its surface.

I think despite the names on that list, we have to look at the individual fights. DLH/Hops and DLH/Trinidad....both piece of sh*t fights!!!

Chavez was no A-lister when Hoya fought him, especially the second time

That said, you cant knock the guy... win or lose, he fought the best and outside of the Hopkins fight, he was always competetive

I rooted against him all the time, but to me he beat Trinidad clean, and I thought he won the second Mosley fight

Yup, I thought he pipped all his contentious fights other than Sturm, which he clearly lost. (Floyd & Mosley 1 weren't contentious, IMO)

Pretty solid career for a 1 handed fighter.

indeed... it was a terrific one hand, excellent quick jab and a great left hook

and, agree, he definitely lost to Sturm

I give de La Hoya credit for fighting Whitaker, Quartey, Trinidad and Mosley in quick succession.

Era for Era.....best Welterweight resume in history.

It's too bad ODH's legacy has been ruined by his affiliation with GBP. But I agree - there's no disputing ODH's competitiveness.

I thought he nearly beat PBF, and could've if he wanted to.

I think ODH's dominant loss to Pacquiao is why PBF is afraid of Pacquiao.

Something tells me that Floyd watched Pacman/DLH and decided that it's a bad idea to fight Pacman. Looking at their respective performances, Floyd's best shot couldn't phase DLH and barely edged it over 12 rounds by a split. Pacman raped DLH, even his jabs were snapping DLH's head back. Also looking at how Pacman bombed Hatton out in 2 rounds and Floyd struggled for 7-8 rounds or so.
Floyd is scared as sh*t of Pacman. He's f*cking scared!:atu: It's why he's accused Pacman of steroid use. He can't understand how a guy like Pacman can make mincemeat of guys like DLH and Hatton whereas Floyd struggled. LOL! It's why he doesn't want to fight Pacman, knowing that he might end up dead on the canvas like Hatton did with his arms stretched out, going into convulsions!

Prime DLH would've f*cked PBF up the ass! It wouldn't have even been competitive if that was 1998 DLH. Floyd has never fought anybody close to the talent and power of a prime Oscar. Even a shot part-time Oscar took a peak level Floyd to a 12 round split. LOL!!!

DLH is probably the only fighter that I hated during his career (thought he was a fraud, lost to pea, lost to ike, thought tito would destroy him) but slowly turned around and started to appreciate him.

the guy fought everybody (once) and proved to be a very excellent fighter and a tough bastard who could take a punch from the best of them.

one of the few guys that i miss now that he is gone

so youre suggesting delahoya was gay in his prime? i dont disagree.

by my count his record vs A-listers should be: 2-7-1. camacho wasnt an A lister and neither was chavez in the rematch.

Don't think for a second that PBF won't take on Juan Diaz if he manages to beat JMM.

PBF isn't just a dim-witted fuck. He's an insecure dim-witted fuck. And he knows deep down he can't hang with the best - not ODH, not SRL, not any of the guys he claims he could beat easily.

PBF is a fraud. A frightened, vagina-sporting son of a bitch on a segue-way. He'd be delighted if a 1998 ODH would've fucked in the butt.

He lost some rounds to him. And compared to Pacquiao, had a lot more trouble neutralizing him.

Ultimately, PBF had to stand in with Hatton and rely on his advantage in strength.

Hatton, afterall, never did shit at 147 and had only fought there once before facing PBF. PBF likes it that way. Same with Marquez.

It's a shame so many are so involved in their contempt for De La Hoya, they cannot even bring themselves to commend his resume. It speaks of a fiercely-intrepid fighter.

This. In terms of actually making big fights, DLH was a throwback.
