For the life of me I can't see how Toney wins.

    Qawi wins wide IMO.

Yeah qawi probably outworks him. I like qawi so much. Never saw someone who seems to like boxing so much. Was always smiling and laughing in there

Whats amazing about Qawi is how much skill he acquired in so little time. From a boxing novice when he got locked up, to quickly developing into one the most skilled pressure fighters in boxing history. Its mind blowing, really.

He had a phenomenal boxing acumen, on up of obviously, natural ability.

You can be Amir Khan, who started boxing when he was a child and still never understood what the fuck to do.

And on the opposite end of the spectrum, you have boxing savants like Qawi and Toney, who very quickly developed into masters despite not boxing at a young age.

Some guys just "see" the game better than others.

People usually associate “talent” with athletic gifts like speed and power. Qawi had pretty good speed and heavy hands but he wasn’t going to blow you away in these areas like a RJJ or Tyson. But I think Qawi is probably among the most talented fighters ever, given his late start.

You know how people would talk about NBA players like Larry Bird or LeBron and how they had a “sixth sense” and “feel” for the sport? That’s what I think of boxers who start at late ages and reach the highest levels. You obviously have to have a real feel for the sport to get so far in such little time. And unlike a lot of these fighters such as Marciano, Rahman, Mercer, Liston, Foreman, etc....Qawi wasn’t a heavyweight like they were. And he didn’t have an amateur background to fall back on like Hopkins did when he went back to boxing in prison. Qawi just learned to box in prison.

Toney was tough as nails so I doubt he gets stopped, but probably drops a decision.

Qawi seemed like one of the more sadistic guys in there. They all have mean streaks but he looked like he really relished giving beatings to his opponents.

Yeah, Qawi had insane natural fighting talent for sure.

But you can't really bring out any of that talent at an advanced stage unless you have the IQ, and Qawi obviously had an extremely high ring IQ.

Toney was ass at light-heavy, noway he wins there. 190 is more interesting, but Qawi would always be a hard style for Toney.

I don't see Toney having enough pop at 175 to make Qawi cautious like Spinks did, and from there I can't see Toney maintaining the kind of pace needed to beat a non-cautious Qawi. Aside from which Toney couldn't even fend off the attack of an ancient Drake Thadzi.
