Mancini is too strong at 135 for Marquez, but itd be a great fight

Gotta disagree. I'd pick Marquez by UD. I think his clean combos would take thier toll on Ray late. Ray would hear the final bell most likely, but he'd get a pretty good thrashing in the last few rounds IMO.

Its VERY hard to beat Marquez with a pressure style unless your the calibre of a Duran, Chavez, or Pryor.

I'm giving this one to Marquez, mostly for the reasons outlined by X. Mancini is going to present him with openings all night long --- I don't dispute Marquez will be hurt, but with his counter-punching precision, & given an opponent who will rush him, something with which he has always been most comfortable, I think he just flat outpoints him.

the current version of marquez could certainly lose to a prime mancini. Five years ago marquez was basically a lightweight under the conditions mancini fought, and would have handled him.

I think the power of Marquez and the softness of Ray Mancini are both being overestimated here

I'm higher on Mancini than just about ANY poster here. My history records it.

But Marquez is sooo accurate, and puts together such beautiful combos that they would take thier toll on a guy as hittable as Ray. And though Ray had a VERY solid chin, he's not Lamotta. Marquez's accuracy would eventually start to buzz him.

But having said that.... theres a good chance Mancini would stop him within 6. Ray was a bigger puncher than Kat. Its no secret, both Diaz AND Katsidis were broke version's of Mancini. But that still doesnt automatically mean that Ray would win.
