    joe cortez.

i thought he did a poor job in castillo hatton, letting hatton hold continuously and deducting points. he was influenced by hattons crying to the ref

Cortez is an average ref. He is sometimes blind but he usually doesn't ruin fights the way Eddie Cotton and Jay Nady can.

I don't think the ref has very much to do in this fight. Hatton likes to fight inside, if FLoyd doesn't like that, it is not referees job to help him

but it is a ref's job to prevent a fight from averaging 15-20 clinches per round. And Cortez isn't very good at that.

But I do agree that it's Floyd's job to prevent Ricky from fighting his fight, and not Ricky's (or the ref's) job to accomodate Floyd.

True that, but when a fighter is pushing forwards and the other guy puts his arms around him (in Hatton-Castillo manner), I don't think the guy coming forwards is entirely to blame for "clinching"

I think Mickey Vann should be the ref. Cortez did Hatton's last fight, time to bring in some new blood.

Folyd fans are scared that Hatton will hit and hold his way to a victory...and with good reason. I see no difference in the hit and hold strategy to the hit and run, turn you back to your opponent strategy that Floyd uses.

I can see Floyd winning it on points but it won't be pretty. I think Floyd will land enough single shots to win the rounds, but will spend most of the fight tying Hatton up as soon as Hatton gets within range. Hatton will barely land a meaningful punch, and Floyd will lose a LOT of fans but will keep his '0'.

I don't see Mayweather turning his back to his opponents.

And "hit and run"? I may not like it; but boxing IS about hitting and not getting hit, and that's his footwork/speed.

His opponents need to find a way to deal with it.

    Peace.

So you are saying fouls are ok if they are done in the first minute of the fight.

Not that i know of, but i just have a feeling that he'll feel it'll be the best way to deal with Hatton once he eventually gets inside.

Floyd, and his team, have brought it up that often that i reckon he'll get away with it more as he will be percieved as the aggrieved party.

Fuck Fraud. I hope ofcourse, that the referee is prompt in pulling up Fraud's illegal impliments that he frequently incorperates to avoid fighting on the inside, and also the backtwisting, .........once those are gone, then I wouldn't be suprised to see Fraud completely unravel the way he did in such mortifying fashion against Jose Luis Castillo, but the default "zero" in line with Fightbeat's dynasty, will go 12 rounds with total impunity as usual,

Turning of the back to avoid being hit in the head - Will be interperated as,... "The awesome shoulder-roll technique, a component of defensive brilliance" - Palming of the head / elbow to the throat, - "Floyd is one of the greatest fighters for creating room for himself" and ofcourse the very common, Excessive running and failure to engage, is interperated as "simply beautiful footwork", who's the referee for this fight anyway?..:crafty: Vik Drackulich?..if so, that SHOULD send alot of knowledgeable groupies into panick, as they should remember what "NO ELBOW" means, it means no fundamental hold on an unravelling style against a hardnose pressure fighter...:crafty:
