There have been many fights in history that fans would have liked to have seen, but didn't happen for a myriad of different reasons. What if we look back and examine some of the matchups which did occur. For a moment, let's pretend those fights never came off. Not knowing the outcome, how would you have expected them to turn out?

"Turn off" hindsight and examine these matchups as you would any other upcoming one:

    Ray Leonard vs Thomas Hearns

Felix Trinidad vs Oscar De La Hoya

Pernell Whitaker vs Julio Cesar Chavez

    Roy Jones vs James Toney

Very difficult to do compadre. You are asking for something unrealistic, IMO.

    but I'll play along:

    Leonard KO Hearns late

Hearns showed in the Hagler fight that he fades a little and Leonard showed that he had alot of heart and stamina and desire to win. Wouldn't be an easy fight for ray, but he'll pull it out somehow.

Trinidad KO De La Hoya late

De La Hoya was dropped by Quartey with a left hook. Trinidad had a much harder left hook. De La Hoya was a warrior who liked to take it to his opponent. BAD NEWS against a powerful Welterweight like Trinidad.

    Whitaker by UD

Whitaker is too fast and too elusive. Look at what Taylor did..except Whitaker wouldn't be hit enough to be hurt and stopped.

    Jones by UD

Jones too fast. He'll Hopkins Toney.

The only one I missed was Hearns, I won the other three.
I consider Whitaker's not a win also, but a rout.

Not just the outcomes, but did you expect them to play out as they did?

nobody....NOBODY can look at the facts and tools of a MM and pick SRL against Hearns. If they fought 10 times Hearns would win at least 6 times...hell it took a miracle comeback from Leonard to get him in their first fight. And then years later when Hearns was losing to Barkley and Ray was beating Hagler, Ray finally gave Hearns a rematch and got beaten soundly.

Now the other fights turned out pretty much as expected, Roy's speed and movement did turn out to be too much for him to handle. Likewise Pea's skill and elusiveness helped him outbox Chavez, and Oscar's boxing ability did trouble the hell oiut of trinidad.

Well you can't go wrong picking both Tito and Oscar i guess.

I thought Oscar would do more fighting vs Trinidad (more exchanging) not really toe to toe, but just trade and get out a lot more than he did, Whitaker was just like I thought, I picked Hearns to stop Ray around 8, I had Jones all the way vs Toney, and expected a wide win like he did.
