I always thought that Lopez would have beat him. In my mind this became more pronounced as Carbajal forgot that he was a very solid boxer and discovered that he was a very serious puncher; he fell in love with that and it diminished him overall. Looking at the 2 fights with Chiquita, I don't see anything in there to make me think Carbajal would beat Lopez. Like many others, I wondered why Lopez never ate that extra plate once a week to gain 3 pounds and get himself into that mix- i have learned from people close to it that it was all business and a question of personal loyalty. In short, to get those fights Lopez would have had to part ways with somebody that he had been with from the beginning.

I don't think Carbajal would have won either. I think Lopez would have steadily picked him apart.

Finito outboxes Carbajal decisively to a decision win. I’ve always maintained that Finito would have beaten Chiquita and Carbajal quite easily, just a shame that we never saw him against the two. Finito also disliked Chiquita so it would have been interesting to see a grudge match between the two, the only problem was that they were both with Nacho Beristain.
