Richie Kates just passed away a few days ago and wanted to make an appreciation thread dedicated to this underrated LHW contender from the 70s. Richie Kates, who emerged from Bridgeton in 1970s to become light-heavyweight boxing contender, dies
Deepest division of any era bar 1970s HW and it arguably ran for longer too. I'm largely ignorant of it apart from what I know of Conteh, Finnegan and Foster. I had heard of Kates but apart from that, nada. You can ARGUABLY say that today's big guys might have given the guys of the 1970s a run for their money but not the LHWS... apart from Jones, maybe an inspired Moorer, I think that those 1970s guys would basically outmatch most of the champs since.
