Well, he definitely isn't an EASY fight for Sanchez. The problem for Riggo is, Sanchez is just awhole lot more versatile, more skilled, more intelligent, and with more variety than big ears. And of course, Riggo's chin STILL isn't that good, and Sanchez had more than enough power to put him away. I don't think Riggo's low workrate would benefit him against Sanchez, and Riggo's power isn't gonna deter Sanchez with his granite chin. I'd say Riggo gets off to a good start and outboxes Sanchez in some of the early rounds. As the fight progresses however, I see Sal making adjustments, turning up the heat, and eventually in the later rounds he takes over and stops Riggo. I'd prefer the idea of Sanchez vs Donaire more though. Sal would have kicked the living shit outta Donaire, and it woulda been fun to watch.
Sanchez had difficulty with every single guy that made him lead... every time Rigo's size makes him difficult to speculate about against a guy like this... he's really short and Sanchez loved to throw two long punches in particular -- jab and straigth right -- which could trouble a guy so little There's no question, win or lose, that Sal would have a frustrating evening against Rigo... I do think he's better at saying "fuck it" and just brawling than Nonito... while certainly not a pressure fighter, he had more of a taste for it than Donaire... I'd favor Sal to win, but he'd miss a lot and eat his share of right hooks and overhand lefts
The very reasons that Sal had difficulties with every single patient boxer or counterpuncher he ever fought are the very same reasons he would fail to "kick the shit out of" Donaire ... Probably would win, but he's not kicking the shit out of Donaire... there is nothing in either fighter's history or style to support that idea
Are we talking about the same Donaire here? A Donaire who was given a handful by Vasquez Jr.? Donaire's only looked impressive in 2 fights since moving up, actually Nishioka, and in blasting out old man Arce. I'm not saying Nonito's not a type fighter, but he wasn't in Sanchez's league by a LONG shot! Sanchez would give Nonito a long, yet brutally ass whupping before eventually stopping him. What exactly does Nonito have to offer Sal?
:atu: 9-3, 10-2 fight there at best what does he have to offer? The same things Pat Ford and Pat Cowdell had to offer... he is a counterpuncher with height and the ability to throw long straight shots Styles make fights, in case you hadn't noticed Pat Ford and Pat Cowdell were solid, respectable pros... both decent challengers to a crown... Salvador Sanchez failed to brutally asswhup either of them, he's not doing it to Donaire either (even you would admit Donaire is superior to both Ford and Cowdell, I would have to think) ... You tell me one good long-range boxer/counterpuncher Sal beat the shit out of... I fucking LOVE Salvador Sanchez... Sal Sanchez against an aggressive opponent is one of the most beautiful sights in boxing... Sal Sanchez against a careful counterpuncher is not one of the most beautiful sights
I don't disagree with anything you said, but I also think Sal fought up to the level of his comp. If Sanchez-Donaire was billed as a super fight, Sal would kick it into an extra level that Donaire doesn't have. As for the last part, Donaire has more HANDSPEED than anyone Sanchez fought. More power? LOL. Donaire does not have more power than Lopez, Gomez, and Nelson.
he absolutely hit harder than the featherweight Gomez or Azumah Nelson... I have no doubt Lopez? definitely not... I don't know if anyone hit harder with one shot at 126 than Danny Lopez... but Donaire is about 8000 times faster than Lopez and wouldn't swing and miss with 90% of his punches while eating 60% of Sanchez's the way Lopez did... Like I said, I don't have a problem with you picking Salvador to win, but he's not humiliating Donaire... stylistically, the match is a problematic one for him
