Was I the only one who kept screaming at the TV. I was like forget all this covering up stuff, just start throwing those fast hands. fastest hands in the division, more power then your opponnent, well then use those hands and start throwing some punches to try and KO him.

I think RJJ should have retired after the RUIZ fight. he is only making a joke of himself now. he would have been regarded as one of the best ever if he had retired undefeated after the Ruiz fight. HBO commentators were saying Calzaghe might be able to beat a prime RJJ, that just made me cringe and think that he should have retired.

here is hoping Floyd stays retired before someone comes out and say *** could have beaten a prime Mayweather.

and all these comparisments to Lennox vs Tyson. it was ridiculous. Calzaghe is no Lennox and Tyson is no RJJ.

Sege vs Double L coming up. It's a good test for Sege to see if he's worth the hype.

Lennox would murder Calzaghe. He's half a foot taller, has over a foot in reach advantange and is almost 70lbs heavier. Calzaghe is sh*t. That style of his would never work against Lennox. One jab and Calzaghe would be launched into the 10th row.

Had Roid retired after the Ruiz fight, he would have a very strong case of being the best ever. Now he is "only" the best ever prime for prime

Just give it a couple of years. The Calzaghe loss is too recent. A few years after the back to back KO losses, even haters were missing RJJ. They will again.

The bad thing Roy is saying he wants a rematch with Joe now. Won't nothing be different especially if he has the same corner, he needs a new trainer. Coach Merk is good but to let Roy think he's winning those rounds up until he got cut is bad training on his part. Roy needs somebody to be real with him and not just a yes man in the corner.

i dunno about that, for years he had been carrying light heavyweights who he could have stopped.....Roy, like Bernard....thinks too much sometimes

but i'm not with those who say that had Roy stepped it up he would have KOd Joe......Calzaghe has quick revovery powers......Jones at that stage prob thought he'd be landing right hands all night and that other opportunities would arise

No, I was screaming for Roy to try to finish Joe in round 1 because I figured Calzaghe would adjust and then take over, so it would be Roy's best chance to try to finish him (as slim as the chance may have been) right then.

I am not saying he would have ko'd him for sure. but atleast he would have a chance of doing it if he just let those hands go. I mean come on can you imagine someone standing infront of the old RJJ with his chin up,head sticking forward and his hands down by his waist ? that would have been a quicker KO then me vs that Double L guy.

you might have been sarcastic but I actually think you are right, Roy beat himself. his insecurity is what makes him cover up and not punch anymore. he's scared. he's fighting to not get hit, not get ko'd. he was always defensive but he used to fight to win, now he's just fighting to survive. I thnk he has mentally not processed the KO losses yet, and if get past that then then he should retire cause he's obviously not fighting with a fighters mentality no more. he almost seemed happy after the match (imo just because he made it to the final bell).

thats not true Reed. sure those fights had impacts on the fighters you mentioned but none of them changed that much as a fighter because of it. RJJ still seems scared, its as if the Tarver KO happened yesterday. the way he is covering up I am almost thinking he thinks he is fighting both Calzaghe and tarver in that ring.

Mosley still pulls the trigger and isnt afraid to open up. then again an iron chin is pretty nice to have and makes it easier to open up for Mosley. Hector, well I've never been a big fan of him. Tyson like Mosley still pulled the trigger and opened up and tried to KO his opponents. its basicly all he did late in his career. my point is RJJ seems satisfied when he loses but doesnt get ko'd while Mosley I still see trying to win fights. there is a big difference

Roy's been gunshy even longer than that. See Griffin I. He just can't pull the trigger anymore.
