Canelo is better than Kirkland Laing. Too big for Duran at 154lbs and above. Cinnamon wins a decision over the tiny smelly fat Latino
Duran schools him, I don't give a fuck how much excess wait the motherfucker is bringing into the ring with him
People like you assume that just because Floyd schooled him, Duran could too. That's simply not true. Duran would have his hands full with the Ginger at 154lbs.
Ginger would have his hands full with Davey Moore. Canelo would hang in there over the first half with Duran, but class would tell over time. Duran, even an older Duran, could fight at more consistent pace that the lil spurt fighter could, and he'd punish Canelo's body unlike anybody else has.
Canelo fights in spurts because he can. He sets the pace of his fights. People used similar logic before Hopkins Pavlik and Mayweather Pacquiao, not realizing that Hopkins and Mayweather always set the pace of their fights so that even the usual ultra busy fighters couldn't outwork them. Same thing with Canelo. Stylewise he'd be a problem for the smaller, older fighter. He'd be stronger than Duran, tougher and more powerful at 154lbs (170lbs).
Duran's weaknesses don't play into the Ginger's hands. Duran had more trouble with speedier guys with better movement. Canelo is slow of foot. He has respectable technical skills, but is still inferior to Duran in both technical skills and physical talent. His only real advantage would be size. The Ginger is rather unimpressive to me (at least relative to his popularity). He's a good fighter, hardly anything special. I wouldn't pick him to beat Duran nor Davey Moore. He'd have his hands full with David Reid. The list of fighters who would beat Canelo at 154 and 160 is long, and it's not only great fighters like Mayweather and Duran. Plenty of "good but not great" fighters would beat him as well.
Agreed. Except i dont think he would have his hands full with reid, and i see a davey moore fight as a pick em. Still, at 154 and above, Duran was not a dominant fighter. He would have to work to win this one
Duran may not get a stoppage, but I have no doubt he schools the hell out of Canelo. Too smart, and even at 154 where he was inconsistent, he still was cat quick in closing the distance and still quick handed, particularly with that straight right. I think Duran would spot very early how ineffective Canelo is going backwards and he would waste no time in taking advantage of that. Duran via late stoppage or a very LOPSIDED unanimous decision.
Erratic is correct. The HBO/Showtime/Golden Boy hype machine has really gone a long way into falsely convincing people that there's something special about the Ginger. He's a good fighter. He's not shitty or anything. But it's still doubtful he'd have even beaten Vargas, MUCH LESS any member of the Fab 4. Well, if there's ANY member of the Fab 4 that Ginger might be competitive with, it's Duran. He sure as Hell wouldn't give Leonard, Hearns, and Hagler any difficulty.
I watched Duran vs Leonard 1 and Moore last night. Maybe the reality is Ginger is just too big and roided up for Duran but that's all Canelo has going for him. Unless Duran just bounces off him he's way to tenacious and active, way too good at closing distance, and way too good an inside fighter with insane stamina. Canelo would need to stop him in under 8 rounds and he's no Tommy Hearns. After that Canelo would look like an embarrassed school bully getting wailed on by a smaller kid.
I'm really baffled at people thinking Canelo's size is enough to beat Duran. Really baffled. An old, damn near totally washed up Duran beat Bakley. Iran Bakley was a much bigger and stronger man than Canelo. If we're talking about the younger, sharper Duran that beat Cuevas and Moore, forget it! Canelo's size isn't enough. He gets fucked up.
ALSO... I'd make the argument that Duran physically stronger than Canelo. More pounds don't always equal more strength. Canelo was physically handled by Floyd. I very much believe Duran could physically bully him and push him back.
Barkley was a cunt. Nigel Benn wiped him out in a round. Toney butchered him. Barkley had no defense or boxing acumen. How big and strong he was is almost irrelevant. Canelo has good balance, thinks well in that ring, isn't particularly predictable and that coupled with his size and strength is why he'd give smaller Duran problems. it's not his size alone.
Floyd is a very strong fighter. His strength is THE most underrated attribute of his. At lightweight he was manhandling Corrales...pushing him to the canvas and all sorts of things. He was manhandling Hatton. He was pushing De La Hoya around at times. He was physically abusing Shane Mosley. you will not agree with what I'm about to say, primarily because Floyd was a speedy slickster, but he's physically stronger than Roberto Duran ever was.
LMFFFFFFAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats. You've just uttered your dumbest statement yet.
Such an absurd statement that it's unreal. Floyd physically stronger than Duran? I'm STILL laughing. This guy's dick riding of Floyd knows absolutely no bounds.
X, you must not have seen Floyd suplexing Castillo pillar to post. You must have missed how light heavy Duran move down to fight lightweight Leonard and got choke slammed through the canvas at Wrestlemania XXXVII.
Didn't you see Floyd throwing Bumlomir around the ring like Foreman threw around Frazier? And how bout when he pushed Maidana all around the ring like a rag doll? I could TOTALLY see Floyd walking down Leonard and consistently bulling him against the ropes...
Floyd's physical strength isn't underrated. His nut lickers mention it so much that it's become overrated. A slickster who had truly underrated physical strength was Whitaker. Whitaker was physically stronger than Floyd.
Just re-watched Duran-Moore for the first time in a few years. I had actually forgotten how good Duran was in that fight. Yeah, this isn't even a contest if it's the Moore version of Duran. Ginger cops a horrible beating.
