Roberto Duran vs Nigel Benn at 160lbs

What transpires?

Benn naturally bigger and more powerful. Duran.....better.

I saw a sparring video of the two'a'dem and Duran seemed to be getting the better of Benn (and Duran was past prime). I think that'll happen in the prize ring too.

Duran by late TKO.

 

Usually sparring is fairly boring to watch but I was entertained by that session.

I agree that Duran wins. His skills were on another level and he would avoid most of Benn's bombs while doing his own damage.

 

Agreed, Benn too crude, Duran too skilled, too crafty.

 

to Panamanian, to shiny and bouncy, to smelly, Benn bow down if he meat in reel life

 

I think the Duran that fought Barkley might get overrun, to be honest

The younger one against Marvin I'd definitely bet on... too slick for Benn, he'd confuse the fuck out of him and land counter rights at will

 

Benn threw so wide. And he preferred throwing wide on the inside to boot. Duran slips & rolls everything going & has a thorough about it while he tenderizes Nigel mercilessly

 

Yeah, I dunno about this one. On one hand, Duran MIGHT have been too crafty and smart for Benn. On the other hand, unlike Barkley who was more of a clubbing puncher, Benn truly had DEVASTATING power at 160. If he clipped Duran flush with that hook, Duran would probably be napping.

Tough fight to pick...

 

Duran is clearly BETTER.

But I suspect that at 160, Benn might just punch too hard for him and would get him out of there eventually.

 

Yup. Duran was a LOT better and a LOT greater than Benn but Benn at 160 could really hit. Tough one. Watson showed how to beat 160lb Benn. The Duran could do the job but might get drawn into a war he wouldn't win...

A proper pick 'em IMO.
