They should match him up with Maia. Only Maia no one else period.

Maia beats him to a bloody, unrecognizable pulp.

So yeah, basically I agree with you. :giggle:

Maia doesn't really hit hard enough.

He hits hard enough to murderize this version of Royce Gracie.

Sure I'd rather see him beat up by Belfort or Henderson, but Maia will do.

Demian Maia REALLY cannot punch dude.

I see him dominating the fight. But I couldn't see Maia stopping even Johnathan Goulet to be honest.

I think they should give him a no namer and let him retire in peace. It's a great story.

Well, Royce is 44 and hasn't fought in 4 years. But you are right, Maia has grandmother power.

I doubt Maia would fight his hero anyway.

And it sounds like there is a specific opponent in mind. Who could that be? Penn? Certainly not Hughes again. Who's left that he could possibly have a beef with?

Maybe they get Shamrock back as well for an over 40 grudge match?

Unless it is a total scrub, Royce is in for the beating of his life. 44, out of the cage for years, and looking like shit his last time out is a recipe for disaster.

If they put Royce in with Demian Maia there wouldn't need to be any punching involved. Maia would school him on the ground.

That's what I'm talking about. I would love to see Gracie schooled at his own game.

Agree and that's why Ken Shamrock came to mind.

It won't be brutal at all. It might be quick but not brutal. Gracie would probably pull guard 10 seconds in and Maia would comply . After a brief grappling battle Maia would sub him late in the first. No blood no gore just a BJJ showcase.

The thing I would love to see is Maia get him in a knee bar and see if Royce sticks to his contention that he would never tap.

Ya that would be super cool since a knee bar doesn't give you an easy way out of passing out.

    Royce won't tap.

    That much is guaranteed.

He proved that in the Hughes fight and I agree. So bring on Maia and a painful kneebar.

Man, I'm not sure why I sadistically want Royce to be beaten. I kind of liked him in the early days. There's just something about his family's arrogance that irks me.

He's proven that beyond the Hughes fight.

Royce and the Gracie's have actually lost fights and claimed victory because they would not tap. It was a significant part of their legacy and their gimmick. They could be choked out, have every limb broken, you name it, but if they didn't submit, it didn't count, and they never submit.

It's just Royce though right? Other Gracies tap like bitches without thinking twice about it am I right ?

When it comes to the Gracies I think there is some kind of "I didn't tap, so you didn't win" arrogance. If you're caught in a choke, OK, go ahead and fight it. If the guy gets you in an arm or leg lock that can cause serious injury, tap. It's a competition. if the opponent catches you in something, let him have the victory.

Well, honestly the Hughes fight is the only one I clearly remember him being in a spot where he probably should have tapped.

Too bad. I just spoke with Dana on the phone. He loved my idea. Gracie Maia is 90% done deal.

No it's not just Royce. No Gracies submit unless they are outsiders maybe.

The Gracie lineage and legacy is diluting and dispersing.

Which is to be expected after generation after generation, unless you in-breed or something...

You're forgetting the most significant one.

    Yoshida.

Yoshida choked him out cold, and that stupid arrogant cunt had the gall to say Yoshida didn't win, and got pride to change the decision to a nc or whatever, ALL this while having "no judo" and "no strikes" rules that basically made it impossible for Yoshida to win on paper

God I hate Royce Gracie, I've hated him since UFC1, he's a total chode.

I welcome his return if he fights a vaguely legit opponent and gets smashed.

How interesting would it be if he were given Sakuraba with the Gracie rules of no time-limit but 10-minute rounds?
