Who wins between these lanky stringbean powerpunchers? I think Arguello was a better long-range boxer and technician, but Saddler was a rougher and tougher infighter. Would the outcome be different depending on the weight class?
Saddler had the right style and traits to beat Pep, but I don't think they translate as well in facing Arguello. I'm thinking Alexis' short, accurate, beautiful power punches are the difference against Saddler. However, based on styles, Pep would bamboozle Arguello.
Something tells me Saddler's unpredictability and 'messiness' might give a straight laced guy like Arguello a serious headache. And there's the sheer length of Saddler...i dont know what the tape says but he must have proportionally the longest arms of any fighter ever. At featherweight I lean to Saddler
This is why I think the weight class could be a deciding factor. At 126, it's possible a younger, less experienced (and likely less physically strong) Arguello could be spoiled by Saddler's rough-house tactics, but a more seasoned (and less weight drained) Arguello up at 130 may be able to counter those tactics.
