I was watching it on and off on Sopcast. Terrible card from what I saw. Very amatuerish in every aspect. The highlights were Tom Atencio getting the beJesus kicked out of him for 1 round, then doing pretty well in round 2, before the guy he fought quit. Yvel brutally KO'd Pedro Rizzo, pounding him unconcious while the ref just stood there and watched. And Bob Sapp, proving there is no fighter in all of combat sports who hates getting punched more than him. TFK
Yvell ko of Rizzo was one of the scariest I have ever seen Sapp should just retire, he got no fighting spirit left in him at all
Seems like so many of these guys are learning the true art of MMA. Double leg, stay on top, throw punches, crowd boos....end of fight! :: Hooray!!!!!
lashley gets like 50k a fight now. He would lose money in the ultimate fighter. Dana should just sign the guy.
Lashley is still green as grass. A win over Bob Sapp means nothing. He's not ready for the UFC. Lashley should just keep doing what he's doing, training with ATT and learn how to fight on these smaller shows. If they threw him in the mix with the UFC top heavies, he'd most likely lose. Maybe he can sign with Dream and fight Cro-Cop. TFK
......geeez....did it really take 5 punches for the ref to realise that this guy wasn't capable of defending himself. :dunno:
:: Lashley could handle most of those UFC heavyweight clowns. It doesn't take as much as you think. He already comes from an extensive amateur wrestling background and has enough punching power to put a hole in somebody's head. He'd f*ck up Chiek Kongo easily. Stop overrating the UFC so much, TFK. Most of those guys are NOT world class level. F*cking Tim 'bar bouncer' Sylvia was a 2 time UFC champ for f*ck sakes. Lashley comes from a much more decorated and athletic background than many of those UFC heavyweights.
At this point, I see no way Lashley beats Mir, Lesnar, Carwin, Velasquez, Do Santos or Nog. He may be able to beat the bottom feeders like Kongo or Gonzaga, but I'd give him a 50/50 shot at best. Hell, he struggled to beat Jason Guida. Lashley needs to take his time and learn to be an MMA fighter. TFK
Brock Lesnar sure took his time to be an MMA fighter eh? 3 fights and he got his title shot.:: Face it TFK. The sport of MMA is still very very young and many of these fighters are actually pretty green in many aspects of MMA. Lashley already has an advantage from being a physical speciman with an amateur wrestling background and having seemingly legit punching power. If he's confident in his skills, there's no reason why he can't knock off most of these UFC heavyweights.
Lesner had 1 fight before was signed. Lashley would do fine. But Dana should just get him, because Lashely is getting more popular with each fight.
I just don't think Lashley is the same as Lesnar. I haven't seen anything close to the punching power from Lashley that we've seen from Lesnar. And Lesnar looked great against Mir before getting caught, dominated Herring, and beat up Couture. So far all Lashley has done is beat a few nobodies and struggle with Jason Guida. TFK
He didn't see anything from Lesnar until after the Couture fight.:: Lesnar against Herring was boring to me. Lesnar played it really safe. Basically humping Herring for the most part and not letting go. I wonder how Brock will react if Mir gets a hold of his leg again in the rematch.
Same as the first. He'll tap. I like Brock and hope he succeeds but sugar coating that he has ONLY 5 fights is pretty hard to do. Then you add that a guy with a similar build and background can possibly have the same success as him further proves the point.
I meant Hanzy's point. The point he always brings up regarding Lesnar. That inexperienced fighters can compete in the UFC with the best of them.
I dont see Lashley and Lesner as inexperienced. They are both great wrestlers. Brock is a two time NCAA heavyweight CHamp. Wrestling is the dominant sport in UFC. Without wrestling, you are nothing. IMO
Some people here obviously didn't see the Lashley vs Guida fight if they think Lashley is on the same level as Lesnar.
Im surprise at how big Lashley is, usually sap dewarfs his opponent. Lashley could make it in the UFC its not like the HW division is stacked. Keep in mind Sapp is the shittesh fighter ever so we cant take to much from this victory
His first UFC fight was his second ever MMA fight, and he was facing guys FAR superior to anyone Lashley has faced.
thats not my point. My point is that he didnt fight those superior guys until after he was already signed. So its ok to sign lashley. Lashley has more experience and fought much better guys than Lesner when lesner was signed.
The UFC rolled the dice signing Lesnar, and so far it has paid off. I haven't seen anything out of Lashley so far that justifies them taking that same risk on Lashley, other then if it was for a TUF deal. TFK
what did you see in Lesner that justified that? Nothing. They can do it again. In fact, Lashley has more experience now then brock did when he was signed.
