Come on, let's not be absurd. Tszyu was an average champion, not an elite fighter, but obviously legit world class. Alvarez is fairly crap at world level. P4P Tszyu is better than the likes of Alvarez.
How can you argue he wasn't? He had a decent amount of title defenses against B level fighters, his best wins are Zab and MAG, and he got busted up and quit against Cool Vince and Hatton. Tszyu wasn't an elite fighter, and never beat an elite fighter. An average world champion and nothing more. Note well, I'm not saying he is a bum, or a SHIT champion, or NOT world class. I'm simply saying he was an average world champion. I get sick of how overrated he is, like Tito. He gets talked about as an elite fighter when the truth is he wasn't close to being an elite fighter.
because he ceased fighting back the moment vince gained momentum. I don't feel as strongly as MWS on this particular subject, but Tszyu has most certainly become overrated through the years. That he's going into the HOF on the first try still has me baffled, esp. since alongside Tyson and Chavez.
