i dont really see spence/haymon being interested in this matchup. if the belts all become vacant there will be an easier route to a title for martin, and then he can bring that to the bargaining table for a more lucrative unification payday.

The fight was ordered. It's a good fight. The fight should be made. Any other view on this is crap.

Good fight. Martin isn’t super special or anything, but he’s better than Ryan, Rolly, and Pitbull imo.

Will take place in November on ESPN.

    There ISN'T Even a Legit Date for Dev-Regis Yet:Dont:...

Along with That, Dev is Still Lightweight "Champion in Recess", Per the WBC and Won't Make Any OFFICIAL Moves Regarding His Other 3 Belts Until AFTER the Regis Fight...Beyond That, Aside from Dev, Tank and Loma, Shakur is THE Highest Dollar Option for Martin @ '35...

A Shakur Fight is Honestly a NO-LOSE Situation for Martin...If He Gets 12-0'ed, (Which REED DOUBTS Happens) So What, Join the "Shakur 12-0'ed Me" Club:Dont:...If He Acquits Himself Well, Martin's Stock INSTANTLY Goes Up...And if Martin were to Actually WIN (He Won't, But....).....

Short of Getting BLITZED "Early Doors" by a Guy NOT Renown for his Punching Power, REED Can't See a DOWNSIDE from Martin's Perspective...As BAD as this Matchup Will Likely Prove to Be STYLISTICALLY For Martin, it's the Best Possible OPPORTUNITY For Him, @ the Moment...

Martin's Ranked # 3 by the WBA, 4th by the WBC, 6th by the WBO and IBF...Even AFTER He Loses to Shakur, Frank Martin Will Still Be VERY MUCH in the Title Mix....

its a surprisng fight to me if it happens. haymon really isnt in the business of putting his guys in with other promoters fighters where his guy is a decided underdog.

unless they really push for it. so i guess it depends on how much martin is gettin paid

As REED Has Stated Many Times, Haymon Allows His Fighters to Be as AMBITIOUS as They Choose to Be…

If They Want to MILK Their Titles and Hold a Division Hostage, as Keith Thurman Did for the Better Part of 2 YEARS, Cool…If They Want to Go “Across the Street” for a Fight or 2 (Wilder-Fury Trilogy, Crawford-Porter), Cool…

After All, Haymon KEPT Mikey Garcia in His Stable Without EVER Having a Longterm Contract w/Him…Mikey Was a Fight by Fight Free Agent the ENTIRETY Of His Post-Top Rank Days…

You Insist On Maintaining a PERCEPTION of Al Haymon That Just ISN’T Factual Bruh…

Frank Martin ain't exactly the second coming of Ray Leonard, and he'll never be a mainstream name. I don't think Haymon is losing sleep over sacrificing him. He isn't giving up some cash cow.

Yeah Martin is nothing more than a good, solid fighter that will be a good name for Shakur to put on his resume.

It's not about Martin being elite

It's about haymon not being able to get showtime to overpay for some mediocre fight Like Martin vs cruz

How embarrassing is it right now if you're Duck Davis?

    Shakur is fighting Martin.

    Haney is fighting Regis.

    Fimo just beat Taylor.

And you're fighting.... ole bum ass Cruz again.

    Duck Davis is a disgrace.

all the top guys in the wbc rankings basically turned down the opportunity to face stevenson for the vacant title.

this de los santos been talkin tough but he's also PBC and i doubt they take the fight.

I predict stevenson vs jamaine ortiz for the vacant WBC title later this year.

Uhhhh $1 million is not enough….huh these fucking guys.
Boxing should be more like MMA no hiding…or ducking. The Last Stylebender would still be undefeated if he could pick and choose who he fights…

Fatstack Dan claims pbc ok'd the fight but Martin himself turnt it down

My guess is they told Martin to pass and he'll get a bigger payday vs davis

Why Do You Flat Out REFUSE to Accept the FACT Haymon/PBC ISN'T as Hands On as You PROJECT Him/Them To Be w/their Fighters, Bruh???:Dont:...

Deontay Wilder WANTED to Face Tyson Fury, Even AFTER the 2nd Bout, When SENSIBLE Boxing Fans Realized Wilder Simply COULDN'T Beat Fury, Man to Man...Nonetheless, Haymon/PBC Didn't Prevent Wilder from Getting Shit Kicked a 3rd Time, Did They?,..

Mikey Garcia NEVER Signed a Longterm Deal w/PBC, Instead Going a on a Fight by Fight Basis the ENTIRETY of His Stint as a PBC Fighter...PBC Never Once DEMANDED Mikey Sign a Longterm Deal, So he Didn't...When Keith Thurman LOST the Proverbial "Eye of the Tiger" and Decided to Kick His Feet Up w/the Division Half Unified, Haymon/PBC Sat Back and Watched...Even as Spence OPENLY Campaigned for a Thurman Fight and Full Unification, PBC Didn't Pressure Thurman WHATSOVER to Capitulate...

And Now This...Even AFTER It's Reported This was Frank Martin's Decision SOLELY, You Instead Look for Some Underlying Haymon/PBC Angle???:Jest:...

If They "Told" Martin He'd Get a Bigger Payday via Tank, WHY Agree to Terms and Negate the Shakur Purse Bid @ All???...They Could've Turned Down the Shakur Fight PRIOR to the Purse Bid Deadline...

Would've Been BETTER for Martin to Simply DECLINE the Shakur Offer on the Front End, Like Everybody Else Did, Than to Verbally COMMITT, Agree in PRINCIPLE (to Offset the Ensuing Purse Bid), THEN Announce You're Turning the Fight Down After All...

Neil has evidence linking Haymon to the 1919 World Series fix.

Don't see this as a compelling fight so don't really care it fell through. Stevenson should be fighting way more proven guy than Martin (who's real value is still up in the air). Yeah, I know the top guys do not seem to be lining up to fight him but if that's the best he can get, might as well catch a rerun of a Demetrius Andrade fight.

It's naive to think PBC wouldn't discourage arrangements that are not advantageous to PBC long term.

Shakur might have to go to 140. These dudes at 135 ain’t gonna fight him.
