i dont really see spence/haymon being interested in this matchup. if the belts all become vacant there will be an easier route to a title for martin, and then he can bring that to the bargaining table for a more lucrative unification payday.

Frank Martin ain't exactly the second coming of Ray Leonard, and he'll never be a mainstream name. I don't think Haymon is losing sleep over sacrificing him. He isn't giving up some cash cow.

 

Yeah Martin is nothing more than a good, solid fighter that will be a good name for Shakur to put on his resume.

I saw photos in the National Enquirer of Haymon, Arnold Rothstein and Shoeless Joe having dinner together.

 

Don't see this as a compelling fight so don't really care it fell through. Stevenson should be fighting way more proven guy than Martin (who's real value is still up in the air). Yeah, I know the top guys do not seem to be lining up to fight him but if that's the best he can get, might as well catch a rerun of a Demetrius Andrade fight.

 

It's naive to think PBC wouldn't discourage arrangements that are not advantageous to PBC long term.

 

Shakur might have to go to 140. These dudes at 135 ain’t gonna fight him.
