http://www.sherdog.com/videos/recent/Shogun-Plans-to-Fight-in-December-or-January-2548 Knee problems again. Jesus, this guy has had more than his share of injuries over the years. Supposedly his knee will be fine in November and he expects he'll be able to fight for years. Barring another injury, of course.
I think his MMA life span is seriously short. He has chronic knee injuries and always seems to be pushing the envelope to get back in the cage. Guys will start to heavily target his knees. There is no way he last another 2-3 years.
He claims his meniscus is fine and that he's gonna be 100%, but he blamed his fights with Coleman and Griffin on injuries or lack of sufficient prep time as a result of those injuries. I realize he can't say, "Yep, my leg is fucked, and I'm not gonna be as mobile", but he just seems so injury prone. It makes betting on the guy a hazardous undertaking.
The thing is that cartilage injuries are chronic. They heal but they don't reginerate. Each injury takes a little more with it. And ligament repairs or reconstruction are always a liability in my opinion. 3 injuries and 2 surgeries make the guy a question mark as you said. I like him and hope the knees don't zap his ability.
