His Uncle has got him this far but is it time for Cotto to get a new trainer? I think Roach would be a great choice. I think He would make Cotto correct the necessary flaws and make him better.

    Thought's?

Cotto needs better footwork/movement IMO. A better strategist as well. He has a lot of skills that could be better utilized and make fights easier for him.

i don't think his footwork is that bad, he is just simply not quick enough so there is not a lot he can do about that

strategy wise, he could have fought the Margarito fight a little better but i think it was his conditioning if anything that let him down there.....Margarito would always be expected to have superior stamina, but perhaps that is something that Cotto can improve with harder sessions in the gym....if the decline didn't start til about round 8, as opposed to round 6, then he could have possibly held on and taken a decision

    Yes.

Cotto doesnt know how to clinch. Plaster gloves or no, if cotto knew how to clinch, he would have won the fight.

I also dont think there is much respect between cotto and his uncle.

Cotto isnt 100% dedicated to his craft. The stories of him drunk all the time, shows this.

He needs to find a trainer that he can respect and that will watch over him as well as get him motivated. I also dont like the way Cotto trains. He doesnt train with any intensity. Its too relaxed in that gym. Like they are all buzed and shit

Cotto is way too flat footed in the ring. It's like he's walking in tar. You're right about his training.

Very well said. You pointed out a few things I had in mind plus a few extra. The major problem Cotto has with his uncle is they can't get along. They have family issues and I remember leading up to the Margarito fight they wouldnt even speak.

Cotto is tooo far into his career to respect any other trainer...if he "doesn't like clinching" nobody is going to make him....but i think we will see more clinching from Cotto after that Margarito fight...weather he likes it or not...

No way! I disagree. Cotto has perfect style for his class and has even added to boxing ablity. He could be slicker but he's the man right now after Margarito thing surfaced. He could visit and work with other camps and still learn defensive tecnique etc. His uncle has done well. He should just keep it more bussiness. When you go to other trainers there is "too many cooks in the soup".:nono: My ole high school football coach use to say "I dance with who I brought".:mj:

No he doesn't need a new trainer, but I'll tell you what he does need. A new handwrapper and I know the perfect man for the job.................Trinidad Sr.

I say let Cotto get Tito Sr and let Margarito get his old trainer and they can go loaded gloves vs loaded gloves and see who wins that one.
