Silva owned Franklin...

  1. Damn, easy work. That was impressive.

From what I've seen over the past year, I think Anderson is probably the best fighter in the UFC.

really happy, I was expecting Silva to lose, but was rooting for him

  5. It has more to do with the fact I think most UFC fighters blow.

Franklin is a pretty good fighter, but all he has in his arsenal is his size and his good standup. Problems arise when he faces someone stronger and more accomplished on their feet.

I had a pretty strong feeling that Anderson would beat up Rich, partly because if it was going to be a standup fight; Rich was going to need a bomb to pull it out. Anderson is just MUCH better up there.

To beat Anderson, you gotta take advantage of his cockiness and the lack of respect he shows sometimes. Get him on the ground, rough him up and rip a limb off.

Im not sure there are many guys @ 185 who will run with Anderson right now though.

All IMO are more accomplished / better fighters in UFC.

I knew Silva would win by knockout. I thought it would come later though, like in the second round.

I think this will help, a little at least, in obliterating what seems to be a strong belief trend that the UFC has the "best" fighters. This attitude is easily understood with the success the UFC's has had marketing itself and building itself HERE in North America.

I think Chris Leban's statements before his fight with Anderson Silva typifies the attitude that UFC fighters are the "best in the world". People will begin to see that it's the FIGHTERS and not the BRAND that determine who's who.

So how did Silva win? Was it complete domination?

I don't think there are too many fans anymore that truly believe UFC fighters are the best. I'm going to sound like a hypocrite when I say this, but it seems there ARE still alot of Pride fans who believe Pride fighters are all better than UFC fighters... even here.. lots of people say UFC is shit etc... this isn't true... top UFC and top Pride fighters are very close... Pride fans are the ones who make the issue out of it.

Bro its an old argument you think people would see the fallacy in with the sport being as old as it is.

Agreed. I couldn't believe how one side that was. Franklin was completely lost while in the clinch.

I don't know if he got hurt from the initial strike to the rib area. He was trying to cover his abdomen with his arm after the first or second shot, but he was manhandled, plain and simple. Did you notice Matt Hughes looking upset and trying to console Franklin's family in the crowd after that beatdown?
Did you also notice that oversized lug Tim Sylvia walking everywhere as usual while wearing his championship belt? Weird. Dude probably shits with that thing on too.

I thought Silva would get the win, maybe second round KO, but gee friggin wizz....I had no idea that Silva would be that much stronger than Rich. He got him in that clinch and drug him around like a doll.

Incredible fight from Silva, who is indeed the best 185 pound fighter in the world.

BTW, this goes a long way in showing what level Rich is really on. Most people who thought he was an A+ caliber fighter were picked on and made fun of, and it shows it was good reason. Now there is a stick with which to measure Rich by. He's not a crap fighter, but it shows he isnt a top 10 lb for lb guy either.

Silva is not the best 185 pound fighter in the world. Losses in a better organisation show it.

Its muddy. Thats for sure. Saying Silva is #1 though just isn't right, because like I said, he has a couple of bad losses that are still fresh in the mind with only one high quality win and a couple of so-so, spread in between.
