....at a catch weight? Tell me Im not the only one creaming their pants at the thought of that?:eeeek:
Silva is at least as good and significantly bigger, too big. It would be a mismatch, Silva would destroy Pierre.
When Matt Sera knocks you out you are no competition for Silva. Sad thing is UFC would promote this fight like it is competitive. GSP would be as competitive as Chris Leben was.
I have a better idea! Catchweight fight with Rampage! Why would someone of Silva's caliber have to challenge a naturally smaller man? He should go up in weight, that would be better for his legacy.
Silva is 10000x better then Serra standing up plus he is way bigger. GSP doesn't get out of the first round.
..... GSP would have a reasonable chance against Silva. he's explosive enough to keep Silva on the ground IMO.
Im not sure how well Anderson would fare at 205, his frame is quite narrow and long, and it's not like he's dried out at 185 by any means. To me it looks like he could more easily move down a few pounds than move up 20, wheras GSP is busting out his skin at 170. I also think Anderson may be being slightly overhyped here on the back of this win (I should have made this thread in a week time, it would have gotten more rational responses)....185 is probably the weakest division in the sport and although a win over Henderson looks great on paper, given that every single PRIDE fighter whos stepped into the octagon so far has looked about as useful as a chocolate tea pot it might not be everything its being cracked up as. Silva/GSP at 178 or 180 is the meeting of the two best p4p fighters in UFC right now, I think it's a more exciting one than Silva/Rampage.
We will find out how fluke it was next Month. Even if GSP beats Serra he is still no comp for Silva. Silva is in a bad spot right now. There is nobody for him to fight at 185 and 205 is too much for him. He could make the transistion to boxing and be in the same spot his opponents are in right now where he has no shot at winning.
I think that's a little overblown IMO. Pride has had some flops in the UFC (ie. Crocop, Shogun) but look who the champs are. Nog (heavy), Silva (185) and Rampage (205). So basically 3 of 5 champs in UFC right now are former Pride fighters. I think the fans are exaggerating how ineffetive the Pride fighters have been in UFC.
I don't buy the whole 'Pride Fighter' and 'UFC Fighter' argument. Actually, it's kind of stupid. It's not like these guys fought exclusively for Pride or UFC. Was anyone calling Wandy a UFC fighter when he was on top in Pride? He did fight for the UFC before fighting for Pride. Fighters are just that, fighters. Regardless of what organization they're fighting for at the time. TFK
yeah sorry, i just meant 'lately' as in since pride was bought over. YOu have to admit they have been getting their asses handed to them lately, for whatever reason.
mws, are you saying that the PRIDE guy actually won on Saturday, because Silva was PRIDE fighter before he came to the UFC, and Henderson fought in the UFC before he went to PRIDE. ::
