This fight resembled Barrera I. Pacq had endless stamina, and just outboxed the piss out of Diaz. In Barrera I, i think pacq showed more power. Here, it was just a clinic.
Diaz is pretty funny in the post fight interview with "he was just to fuckin fast. He's fuckin fast, man. shit." and so on.
I lean Calz as p4p #1 based on the undefeated record, but pacq showed again tonight why he might be #1.

Hard to take away anything from this fight. It was a sparring session; good thing the Marquez fight is still fresh in your head - after watching this one you may think Pacquiao is untouchable.

I still believe the toughest fight out there for him is Joan Guzman. Actually, I thought Guzman deserved a shot after that thorough ass-whipping he gave to Humberto Soto. That was vicious. A tough, hungry and motivated Guzman is a stylistic match-up problem for anybody though I believe he's starting to slow.

Such a pity that the big names don't want to have anything to do with him.

Either way, I'll be pleasantly surprised if Arum allows Pac to fight any of the top lightweights. If they do, it'll be the worst one, or the most favorable. They don't wanna ruin the potential Hatton match-up. I think that would be pretty bad for the sport. <sigh>...but what do I know?

I want to give a round of applause to Oscar de La Hoya and Ring Magazine for accurately ranking David Diaz #3 and ahead of Juan Diaz.:doh:

Eh? Guzman outsped and outclassed him but a vicious ass beating it was not...Soto kept coming forward, throwing (and missing) and Guzman spent much of the time hot dogging once he had put a few rounds behind him...it was a bad match-up for Soto but not a bad beating by any means

Soto was wobbled a few times in that fight too. He got his ass-whipped.

He did, man! I was shocked as all sh*t watching that fight. Yeah, I thought Guzman was good but I didn't expect THAT...

Dude, I've never gotten the impression you're anything other than a fan of his. I was impressed with how easily he handled Soto but I never really thought he pushed home his advantage, he seemed happier to counter and catch him effectively in short bursts, particularly early doors. No question that he stunned Soto but that was a function of speed, I never thought Soto was hurt throughout.

I don't get it. When did I give the impression that I'm a fan of Guzman?

And as for "stunning" Soto, he stunned Soto several times then. Sure Soto came forward but he got his ass kicked for it. And I was one of the guys who picked Soto win, who was sick of the ride up to AC being surrounded by guys droning on and on about how good Guzman was. But then I saw up close.

Bottom line, I'd like to see him tackle Pacquiao. Doubt it ever happens.

I think Manny should fight either Campbell/Guzman winner or Casa/Marquez winner. The only real threat to me is Marquez since he proved it but Guzman might be tough too. He beats the rest of those guys. He should fight maybe one or two more fights at 135 before he moves up and takes on Hatton.

unlike david diaz, guys like campbell, juan diaz, or even santa cruz know how to fight from angles. especially campbell, he'd be much more effective retaliating unlike diaz who was punching air against a guy who's not really known for being the most elusive guy on the planet.

i like diaz, but he was simply a punching bag in there.

Campbell and Guzman are the biggest threats to Manny at 135.

The baby cow simply doesnt have what it takes. I think Manny would give Juan Diaz a horrible beating.

The best fighter at 135 lbs is Guzman, but arum won't want that fight. I guess it's Hatton next, since casamayor got a date with Marquez.

I think pac brutalizes any Diaz and Campbell too. Casamayor is too old for Pac right now.

WTF? :dunno: Guzman barely even won that fight and did a tonne of holding, slapping and running to do it.

Guzman would be the only one that i'd go as far to pick against Pacquaio, although Casamayor can never be counted out.....Campbell and Juan Diaz would be live underdogs....Katsidis gets blown out

I don't understand where people get that from? Perhaps I missed something? Did it look different live than it did on TV? Because I thought Guzman was excellent in that bout - I was extremely surprised by his performance. And I thought he showed some pop too, against a guy with a solid chin and determined to walk through him. I wish I had that fight, I'd like to refresh my memory.

    barely?

guzman beat soto so bad he was dropping his hands popping him with combos and moving out of the way before Soto knew he was hit

early in the fight it was competitive but Guzman ended the fight toying with Soto.

will it take 10 losses for you to realize Soto is not that good? :atu:

Arum already told Guzman he would never land the Pacquiao fight. He told him this after Guzman schooled Soto and after the Pacquiao/JMM rematch.

I think After Diaz, Arum will go with Valero or Soto and then maybe Jesus Chavez.

Anybody out there that comes forward with no defense will likely make Pacquiao look like Ray Robinson the way David Diaz did.

    ....

Won't know until he fights them. Style wise I think he beats Campbell for sure though. Katsidis probably to. Juan Diaz and Casamayor being the 2 fights I would be less sure about. You can throw JMM on the list to, well nevermind Manny already beat him. :atu:
