....the undisputed welterweight champ, when Antonio Margarito was the longest reigning champion at 147 for years. Not one of these alleged undisputed champs had the guts to take the limited Margarito out of the picture for an easy payday. While it is debateable in retrospective that Margarito has any claim on Forrest, Mayorga, Spinks, it became a fraudelent reign, when Zab Judah without any welterweight credentials became the "champ". He received a title shot at 147, LOST, received another title shot and took the belts from Spinks. Nobody should have considered Judah the undisputed champion without fighting Margarito, whose hadn´t lost a welterweight fight in 10 years and his title reign was in his 5th or 6th year.
re Judah at 147 i suppose you could argue that beating Spinks was a bigger accomplishment than anything Margarito did :dunno:
That´s not the point though. Zab Judah received a second title shot of a LOSS. He has done nothing at 147, that would have warranted the first title shot, let alone a second title shot. How can Judah being 1-1 at 147 be considered undisputed, when you have a long reigning titlist at the same weight, who was never invited to the party. To me the tag of being undisputed is given too easily.
Absolutely fucking agree one hundred percent. Judah's handspeed-hypnotics dazzle alot of dumbies and he's a capitalists DREAM for promoters to work with,....Top Rank simply adore him and for good reason, he's a fucking 3rd tier scrub, masquerading as a 'Top fighter'...he has the strongest immunity from disgrace, that I have ever seen since 'Prime Mike Tyson' possibly even stronger, .................................................. :shit:then when Fraud entered the equation ....................:shit::shit::shit:and brought his groupies with him,.. ...........the welterweight division and boxing for that matter turned into a complete and utter farce, it was a sad and infuriating time under Fraud Mayweather and his constituent dictatorship.
the last real undisputed champ if there ever was one, was probably hopkins at 160 or perhaps calzaghe at 168. mayorga vs. spinks only unified 3 titles. w/ all these belts and sub-belts floating around, i don't think anyone really cares about who's undisputed or not.
We would've found out back years ago if Don King let any of his fighters (Mayorga, Spinks, Zab, etc) get anywhere near Margarito.
Mosley/Forrest was the only welterweight fight that mattered in 2002 and was for the championship. The lineage after that is easy to follow. Margarito was a ducked contender.
Mainly because of all the major Alphabet Soup Boxing Organizations the WBO (whose belt Margarito wore with pride) is still heralded by many as not as legit as the the WBA, WBC and IBF. Some don't even recognize it, thus the lack of interest in seeking a fight with a 'challenger' not even recognized by the other three stooges organizations.
