The Amazing Spiderman 2 opened to an estimated $92 million which is a huge improvement over the last film, but still less than the opening numbers of each of the first three films in the franchise. It is also less than the opening of Captain America The Winter Soldier in April. The reboot sequel has been vilified by the majority of critics and has a Cinemascore grading of B+ which is not bad, but not great enough to warrant it will finish its run with better numbers than the previous film. Last week's champ, The Other Woman came in a distant second spot with $14.2 million for a two week's total of $47.3 million. Holding on in the third spot is the faith-based film Heaven is For Real which added $8.7 million to its arks for a current total of $65.7 million which is great for this $12 million budget film. Captain America took the fourth spot with $7.7 million and a current domestic total of $237 million. In the fifth spot Rio 2 took $7.6 million for a $106 million total. A Haunted House and Bears exited the top ten list, God's Not Dead remains in the #9 spot with $1.7 million and $55.5 million current total and The Grand Budapest Hotel returns to the top 10 list in the tenth spot. Final numbers will be released on Monday afternoon.

33% of audiences were families plus 51% of the audience was 25 year old or younger which means older fans passed it.

A little. Different topics. One is about giant monsters which doesn't appeal to certain people and the other is a superhero franchise sequel with a built-in fanbase. Scifi fans like me can watch both on their opening weekends. Won't hurt a bit only for repeat viewings.

Compare 'The Amazing Spiderman 2' $91.6 million opening to 2007 much vilified 'Spiderman 3' $151.1 million opening. Is a lot of dough this franchise is bleeding.

nobody here has ever wondered why they make remakes...

They have only pointed out that it blows that they do it all the fucking time, because the results are almost always shit
