Strikeforce: Diaz-Cyborg 1/29/2011 (Prediction Thread)

Well, time for some of us to try to make up some ground. Four fights on this card and a potential 20 points to try and grab.

Cyborg looks like a bad man at 170 and I have a feeling this will be a better fight than people might think. I also absolutely love Lawler getting a shot at Souza. I think the Babalu fight was a wake up call for Lawler. He was way too laid back and fought with too much caution. Hopefully he will carry the attitude he had against Lindland into the fight with Jacare.

Carson really? I know nothing of the guy, but figured it's a safe bet SF isn't trying to get Walker beaten. You think he'll lose to this guy?

 

I was thinking the same thing. Scott Carson's official record is 3-1. He had 3 fights between 1999 and 2001. He didn't fight an official MMA match again until 2010 and was knocked out in less than 3 minutes.

its more of a hope, than a pick. I just want SF to get serious and get rid of shit like Walker being on a main card. I am never good at picks, I usually end up going with who I want to win, instead of who I think will win:giggle:

Most of these fights are easy to pick for me with the exception of Gracie-Prangley. Prangley is nothing special but the dude is a very experienced veteran in MMA having fought everywhere for 10 years.

Meanwhile, Gracie has 3 MMA fights under his belt but comes to the sport with one of the most decorated grappling backgrounds in history. The dude has grappling wins over some huge names like Maia, Souza, Werdum, Drysdale, etc. But he looks extremely limited in his stand up.

This is a good, stiff test for Gracie 4 fights into his MMA career.

 

Hands down the hardest fight to pick. Prangley could hold his own with just about anyone including UFC fighters at 205. Would he get stopped by some, sure, but he would beat a few too. Its a crafty, tough, strong as hell old veteran, against a tournament submission champion. Could be a tough night for Gracie.

I have a hunch that every fight could easily go either way.

 

Well it looks like I will definitely gain or lose ground as I am leaning hard toward picking Lawler to knock Souza TFO.

 

So Does REED...For All of his Limitations, Lawler has a LEGIT "Puncher's Chance" Against ANYBODY...& the "Puncher's Chance" Seems to Play Out MORE OFTEN In MMA than in Boxing...

This is what I thought as well. I actually struggled with this fight for a while. I could see Lawler starching Jacare as his hands are very good. However I also could see Jacare subbing Lawler as he is one of the best in the game on the mat. I just think Jacare has a better chance at taking Lawler down than Lawler does at landing that big shot on Jacare.

Me too, Bob. Lawler has one punch KO, but believe that Jacare knows that. I see Jacare pulling guard and getting Robbie down to the mat. At that point, somehow, some way, I see Robbie leaving an opening and Jacare snatching it up.

Effortless for Roger. Didn't think he'd get him down so quickly, thought he'd strike a bit more like the Randleman fight. He outstruck him anyway. Very economical.

I was on the fence but I think he very well may be a superstar. Not many guys just beat consensus top 25 fighters easily within their first few fights.

 

Cain Valasquez on a Strikeforce card !! Dana must not like this !

 

I think Hershel Walker might've been pretty good had he started out of college.

 

Unbelievable transitions from Souza. Would've been sub of the year for sure.
