In the latest WBA rankings Gennady Golovkin has been ranked at the Official Challenger (OC) to Felix Sturm. Felix Sturm is currently in a promotional dispute with Universum, and it appears Kohl has used his influence with the WBA to lift Golovkin into the mandatory slot to punish Sturm and take his belt away. For the people, who are not aware of Golovkins amateur pedigree. He is a former amateur world champion and Olympic silver medalist. He beat Korobov, Dirrell and Bute during these tournament, and only lost to Gaydarbekov, who was a great amateur. So far he hasn´t looked outstanding as a pro, but this could very well be the toughest fight of Sturms career.
Golovkin is slow, very slow,.. but I suspect he's got some crisp, heavy mitts.. still, he'll get out-picked over 12 in the near future, he's not as good a pro prospect as the glass chinned Korobov.
LMAO. A day after Universum released their statement regarding the validity of Sturm´s contract in which they declared their intentions to force a mandatory fight with Golovkin, Golovkin gave U notice he´ll leave them as well, because they didn´t advance his career and broke their promises. ::
Do you know why he never turned pro? Btw, Brähmer, the WBO light-heavyweight champ just got 16 months without probation. Universum is crashing hard. Brähmer was their only bargaining chip for a new TV deal, but I have faith that the WBO will allow him to remain champion throughout his jail time. ::
Wow, that really is bad news for Universum, schadenfreude all round. Gaydarbekov must have been late late twenties at least by the time he finished his ammy career, seemed like one of those career amateurs
He was 28, when he won the gold at the Athens Olympics. That would have been enough time to turn pro, but he probably had some career in the military or something lined up, he would rather followed than the insecurity of a pro career, much like Cammarelle.
Braehmer is a noted fuckwit and has been in trouble before. Fuck Universum too. I hope they crash....bad.
But wait there is more. :: Two time world title challenger and Ring Magazine #4 rated middleweight Khoren Gevor has also given Univerusm notice that he won´t fight for them again.
