Sturm is beating up Zbik. The Zbik takes a turn. Too bad you guys are balls deep in a discussion about heavyweight mythical matchups instead of talking about the common opponents of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and Matthew Macklin :crafty:

Who's winning so far? I just found a stream and it's round 7. I saw most of 6 and it looked like Sturm won that round.

Did Zbik just quit? I looked away from the stream for like 30 seconds, came back and Sturm had won.

That's what happens when you look away from a Felix Sturm fight, for 30 seconds or more.

Zbik was pulled out/quit between rounds.

I saw the end of the round, and looked at a couple threads in here and when I came back it was over. I figured someone stopped it between rounds. Sturm was whooping him at the end of the last round.

Sturm fucked him up after having a bad one or two rounds. He bashed him with that jab.

He really is the 2nd best 160lbr but its DM vs Roy Jones all over again. I don't know how people have Daniel Geale or JC Chavez Jr ahead of him.

Sturm vs Martinez should be next. Since it's clear JCC Jr. isn't ever going to fight Martinez and the WBC is going to keep letting him avoid that fight.

Sturm should cash in and get paid and put on a decent performance.

Honestly, I could see Sturm beating Martinez. Martinez is a bit overrated really. he's good, but he's not that great. He's also getting older and is a small MW.

Of course it will never happen. Germany has done great things for boxing but one major downside is that it never placed an onus on fighters making unification bouts. Its surely a question of proper negotiating and making sure that either "their" fighter travels and gets looked after or the other guy is offered very very good money.

Sturms most recent opponents are common to both JC Chavez Jr and Martinez and on both occasions he has done very very well for himself- he was probably a few clean blows from taking Macklin out, and beat up Zbik easily. He also has that "win" over Oscar and the two fights with Castillejo.

He's not a bad fighter. Just too comfortable.

Better performance by Sturm after two weak outings. For two rounds he looked sluggish, then he put it together and won going away. Also, I like to watch Sturm fight

Sturm's jab is all-time great level, even though otherwise he is pretty average. Because of that jab only he is very difficult to beat by boxing. A guy who attacks him hard and pressures him (and is good) will beat him, which is why he never wanted any part of Pavlik nor Abraham. Against Martinez Sturm would also control from the distance, but as Sergio would turn up the heat he would defeat Sturm.

Yep, he would probably lose to Sergio, having tested the guy sternly and done just enough, a la Macklin, to show Sergio up as the overhyped commodity that he is.

That jab is an all time great jab. Sturm really has two stains on his record- one the stoppage loss to Castillejo- albeit that he was doing as good a job as Oscar or Vargas before he got caught {and he did avenge it with a clinic} and the failure to unify in a showdown with Abraham which, with the benefit of retrospect, probably would have made the winner the top-dog at 160.

I never liked Sturm, because of his DM-Lite mentality and his DM-Lite fighting style, but he has persevered and impressed at a level no lower than that of his more esteemed peers.

:scratcher: I can see DM mentality in him but their styles are very different. Dariusz was an aggressive guy who liked wars and punched hard, exactly the opposite of Sturm (who is another copy of Sven Ottke with better jab and weaker defense)

I meant in terms of his career- hanging around in Germany fighting there, collecting pay-days from an adoring crowd.

I suppose style was a bad word to use....outlook would have been better. They had a very similar outlook on their respective careers.

Yeah, I've seen both of them, and pretty much all of their fights- I've clarified in the post above. I was talking more about how they arranged their careers. Style was a bad choice of word. Outlook is better.

Sorry missed that... matchmaking style indeed very similar. And Sturm is milking that "but i went to america and got robbed" something fierce.

And now you better find me and Gatti that Barbershop Video! :D
