At 147 with Tony allowed to have plaster wraps.. Wouldn't make a difference. Leonard would dance circles around him and light him up with hooks and uppercuts. Leonard TKO 6
Leonard would beat the crap out of Margarito but no way he takes him out that quickly if at all. Check out Leonard's fight with Marcos Geraldo. He was another big plodding Mexican with a much lesser chin than Margarito. Ray unloaded heavy shots every round and couldn't stop him.
I would agree with this if an old Mosley hadn't beaten Margarito senseless. Leonard would land at will, Margarito would swing and miss a lot and would eventually get battered into submission.
I can see that but it's like Mosley was made to beat Mexican fighters because he had a somewhat similar style but with much faster hands. Shane sits down on his punches a lot, and is pretty much forced to as he got older. I doubt Leonard would plant his feet and wing away round after round when Margarito keeps coming at him. He could throw fast combinations, move out of range and make the fight much easier for himself. Even Geraldo wobbled Leonard halfway though the fight because Ray stayed within range just a little too long.
I can see Leonard spending a lot of time in front of Margarito, because he had the skill and reflexes to do so. it's not like Margarito was a big puncher or had the offensive skill to really get to Leonard. When you look past Leonard's media image...he was a fighter who wasn't afraid to mix it up with the likes of Duran and Hearns at 147. I don't know if it's a early as the 6th round, but I see Leonard scoring at will and Margarito, for all his ballyhooed toughness, eventually crumbling to the combination of punishment and fatigue.
I don't know if you guys know this about me but personally I rank Srl up at the very very top EVER right with Ali, He would totally DOMiNaTe margerito. Plaster or not
