Surprising boxing numbers

Got the idea from Stevedave's 'Hagler is only 11 years older than Hopkins' comment. Let's see if we can find some other (even more) surprising numbers of familiar fighters.

Ali had only three KOs less than Sonny Liston when they both reached 50 wins (which is when Liston retired)

Holyfield and Bowe have the same number of victories despite Holyfield's career has lasted much longer

Sugar Ray Leonard only fought 14 times after he became the champion of the world and that includes all his five comebacks.

John Ruiz has had 12 world title fights, which easily surpasses Foreman and Frazier.

Any others?

yea, steve cunningham too. he only has like 20 some fights but with 7 of them being world title fights.

Wasn't the first fight with Ali even on the scorecards at the time of the stoppage?

 

Evander Holyfield has been fighting two years longer (26+) than Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has been alive (turns 25 on Wednesday), yet they both have the same total number of wins (43).

 

I think it was 4-2 Ali or 3-2-1. Anyway those two are probably the rounds Steve meant since in none of the other three bouts did Liston complete one

Ignoring the recognised robbery against Elmer Ray, Ezzard '25 loses!' Charles went on a longer unbeaten run in the 8 1/2 years after moving up to 175 as Floyd Mayweather has in his career, thus far.

42-0 vs 41-0.

 

Sonny Liston and Henry Akinwande share the same amount of wins and losses (50-4). Akinwande however has more 1st round KOs (9 to 8)

From March of '95 up to and including November of '96, a span of seven title fights, Roy Jones lost one round on one judges scorecard. Had the round been scored properly, Jones would have gone seven fights without officially losing a round.

Although not known particularly for being a one punch KO specialist, at 92.6%, Vitali Klitchko has the highest KO percentage of any heavyweight champion in history...greater than Foreman, Frazier, Tyson, Marciano, Louis, Lewis and Liston.

 

Joe Calzaghe once simulated screwing Bernard Hopkins in the keester in front of millions of people and Bernard Hopkins didn't do anything to retaliate.

Other than by Roy himself, who after being knocked down by Lou Del Valle, went two years and five fights without losing an official round (although I can't find the numbers for the Otis Grant fight, but I remember every round being easy) until he ran into Eric Harding.
