A Tyson who's been retired for 5 years is STILL in better shape then Arreola.

Good point. In better shape than 80% of the division in fact. His neck looks allot thinner now, though.

This video is fucking awesome. 'Cannoli's, I've had experience with them, Ive relations with them..........and they didn't eh...turn out too nice......they're eh too sweet..... they're like a curse to me'. 'let's toast......yes, it has it's purpose'. 'I'll probably take it to the pawn shop......yeah.....that's cool'. With the Vaughn Williams symphony in the background. I have a weird sense of humour but this shit really tickles me.

Mike's just as entertaining today as he ever was.:bears:

Guess it's kinda abstract.....just enjoy the inapropos. Basically just find Mike hilarious full stop, too. The big muscles and the lisp, the brutishness and the bizarre floral language he uses, the transgressions and the childish innocence. This shit totally played up on that.

I don't know. Tyson gassed out in like 5 rounds against Kevin McBride and 4 rounds against Williams. Arreolo, while not looking in great physical shape, can go 12 easily.

You're on drugs, dude. Tyson even when active wasn't in good shape in the latter part of his career. The guy had sh*t stamina and stamina is all that matters. Not how nicely shaped your pecs are. Don't confuse a good physique with actual conditioning Hut.

Of course, true....but the two are related, lets not pretend they aren't. When a guy like Areola comes in with 5 bellies you know he isn't at HIS best. Mike's lucky in that he was a born athlete so he found it easier to stay in physical shape.....and that wasn't a guarantee he was fight fit. But if a guys fat you know he hasn't trained and eaten like he should. 40lb of fat is never helpful in the ring.

PS, there's also more to being in fighting shape than stamina. If you're fat you might be able to go 12 rounds but at what pace and how much slower are you gonna be and how much is your balance gonna be compromised. Even when Mike hadn't trained properly he was still more dangerous over 3 or 4 rounds than a lard heap like Areola is over 12.

I am not sure if there is actual proof that being fat equals to having stamina problems or that the fighter would be better without the extra (yes, I have an agenda here since I am obviously trying to make Vitali's opponents look better)

In lower weight classes no great fighter can be soft, because those guys need every bit of strength they can fit to their frame. That's why it is important to be ripped so you can be as big as possible.

Also athletes such as runners need to be thin, because big muscles and carrying much weight need more oxygen. So if you have less muscle, you can breath for longer, which is reasonable enough.

However boxing, according to new studies, is not so much about stamina in sense of running but more about muscle endurance. Make a marathon runner hit a heavybag for two minutes and he will be gassed. That is why running and roadworks are not used as much in training anymore, but also the stamina exercises should be ones that support boxing.

Now, is there any study to show that a fighter who has a soft body would have more muscle endurance than if he was ripped? Or does it work that way. I for one haven't seen evidence of that. As long as the fighter has enough running type stamina, it does not matter how he looks, and being a better runner won't necessarily make him a better fighter.

If a fighter gets up in weight because he does not train at all (Buster Douglas type) then that is obviously a problem but extra weight itself is not

Running, basketball, football, ballet, high jumping whatever..... it's just dead mass you're carrying about weighting down every movement, slowing it down, negatively effecting your balance and using up extra energy carrying it about. It's like putting a 20lb weighted vest on an inshape fighter and sending them in the ring, do you really need a 'study' to tell you thats a hinderance?:dunno: Great and fat don't go together.

I've had it before it tastes nasty.

Saying that I like the taste of Lemsip as it is normally, maybe I'm weird.
