Segura-Valdez Round 1: Segura comes out to center ring, Valdez steps forward and immediately goes in reverse. Segura looing to land left to body. Left uppercut misses for Valdez. Segura trying to find his range, looks a bit tense for the moment, no fluidity in his punches. Valdez left hook blocked, sneaks in a jab as Gio tries to land a left hook. Valdez warned for low blow. Segura paws with right, lands a straight left. Stalking, driving Valdez to corner, lands a left. Left to body drives Baldez to ropes. Left hand hurts Valdez, as does right. Paez Jr-Drake Round 2: Drake comes out in natural s/p stance, jabs but not landing, though enough to momentarily keep Paez off of him. Paez lands right. Drake comes in, clinches. Paez lands on clinch, warned for something (headbutt?). Paez lands right hand, Drake backs off. Drake comes in, lands right to the body. Paez ducks an overhand left while waiting to land counter right. Drake now in conventional stance, overshoots left and clunches. Paez momentarily switches to s/p, misses with left hook. Body shot by Paez, lands flurry upstairs. Right hand by Paez, Drake momentarily in trouble. Drake back in southpaw stance, Paez conventional. Another clinch by Drake, about the only thing he's doing well. Jab jab right to body for Paez. Paez misses left hook. Paez Jr-Drake Round 3: Crowd chanting "Paez, Paez." Paez throws left, right, left, all blocked as Drake puts on the earmuffs. Paez jabs while bouncing on his toes. Drake reaches with jab, and clinches. Paez lands, Drake clinches. Paez overshoots with left uppercut, lands straight left to body. Drake looks like he wants to be anywhere but in the ring right now. Paez misses with right uppercut, nothing in return from Drake. LEft, right hand sneaks through Drake's forearms. Right hand upstairs for Paez. Drake misses with sweeping left, nothing behind it anyway. Paez lands, pushes Drake off of him, misses with looping right. Paez 10-9 (30-27)
Paez Jr-Drake Round 4: Drake bullies Paez Jr into corner, showing rare sign of agression, though all punches are blocked. Paez Jr misses with right hand. Drake lands right uppercut on inside. Paez Jr returns fire. Left hand on the inside lands for Paez. Paez cocks right, and lands it., Drake in trouble, eats a left, but recovers. Drake lands a right hand. Paez winds up in bolo mode, lands right to body. Left uppercut for Paez, catching Drake coming in. 1-2 for Paez, the 1 blocked, the 2 missed. Left hook for Paez, misses with follow up. Drake lands right, Paez lands overhand left. Paez 10-9 (40-36)
Paez Jr - Drake Round 5: Drake needs a knockout, or a whole lotta knockdowns, starts out round more aggressive than normal , but to no avail. Paez flips to southpaw, lands left, and a right hook. Both fighter warned for headbutts. Drake attempts a right, eats a straight right for his efforts. Paez toying with him, lands a booming right hand to Drake's chin. Drake comes back, lands looping left and right to vbody. Right hand lands for Paez, Drake back to southpaw. Drake warned for low blow. Drake lands two jabs. Both fighters in s/p stance, Paez now back to conventional. As is Drake. Lots of switching, nothing landing. There we go, Paez lands a right. Paez jabs, backs Drake up Paez Jr 10-9/50-45
Paez Jr - Drake Round 6: Paez Jr wants to close the show. Lands right hands upstairs and to body. Drake overshoots with right. Paez lands left as Drake loiking to clinch. Drake warned for headbutts while clinching. Paez landing on inside while ref instructs for both to fight their way out of a clinch. Drake misses with a right. and misses with a left. Right hand lands. as ref urges both fighters to pick it up. Paez flurries. Drake lands right. throwing down in final minute. Paez lands upstairs. Right hand lands for Paez, another Drake clinch.
