    Telefutura back in boxing biz


    TeleFutura and Golden Boy Promotions announced today the return of “Solo Boxeo Tecate” on April 30. The 90-minute live telecast will feature Golden Boy Promotions fighters such as Pablo Cesar Cano, Omar Figueroa, Danny Garcia, Frankie Gomez, Charles Huerta, Lucas Matthysse, Carlos Molina, Luis Ramos, Ronny Rios, Carlos Velasquez and more. “Solo Boxeo Tecate’ has been a great launching pad for Hispanic fighters and is where many have begun their careers,” said Golden Boy chief Oscar de la Hoya. “We are very excited to once again have such a wonderful stage to showcase our top contenders and up-and-coming prospects.” The telecast will air live on Friday nights at 11:30PM ET/8:30PM PT with English subtitles via CC3.

    No, this is okay. The reason it is okay is because this is just an additional boxing show to watch and it is not up against other shows with that late start time. Well, it can be when Shobox and Telemundo are overlapping, but both of those have East/West feeds so we can manage.

    The telecasts that are based on a single promoter will have some filler fights as they build prospects, but I think that is okay. We get a bit spoiled by Showtime's model and Showtime's model works better if you are familiar with the fighters ahead of time. This will give us the opportunity to see some fighters grow up on the air on a regular basis.
