Norris would pound the crap outta the Floyd that fought Ortiz. The one that fought DLH would be competitive but drop a clear decision.
Floyd would be competetive for a little while, but I can't see him being able to keep it up in the face of a guy who is much stronger, has faster hands and punches waaay harder
Stylewise Norris is an absolute Nightmare for Floyd, especially at 154lbs. Norris matches or beats him for handspeed, has more power and was a great boxer. Norris is also, obviously naturally bigger. Floyd though is a master adjuster and don't believe for a second that Floyd couldn't hurt china chin Norris. Floyd isn't featherfisted, even at 154lbs. Therefore I say this: Norris by clear decision or Floyd by late come-from-behind KO...leonard-Hearns 1 style.
The reason why it's possible for Floyd to adjust enough to be able to possibly win by late TKO is: Floyd has the longer reach by 3 or 4 inches Floyd is the better counterpuncher Floyd is smarter, more elusive, slightly better mover Norris can be knocked down by a Welterweight jab...so Floyd's sneaky counter right hand or check left hook could certainly render him horizontal. Smart money is Norris by decision...but I wouldn't be confident that he could last 12 rounds without getting into trouble.
Don't forget that Norris could certainly hurt Floyd... he'd be the best offensive fighter Floyd's ever been in with, the most powerful as well Norris chin and his stupidity always makes him vulnerable against the best, in my eyes but he's not an easy mark for small guys like Floyd or Sweet Pea
Agreed. norris could hurt Floyd too. More likely the other way around though for two reasons: Floyd is more elusive Norris' chin is worse Floyd is bigger than Sweet pea and hits harder. He also has a longer reach. He presents a different set of problems.
But Sweet Pea presents a defensive style better suited to thwart an attack like Norris's... He has a sharper, more consistent jab, he's a southpaw and he is a more committed combination puncher on the inside than Floyd is... it goes both ways either way, both would have lots of trouble against Norris and would likely be made underdogs
Id take norris over either. Also wouldnt consider whitaker a more committed combination puncher than mayweather jr. above lightweight whitaker didnt really throw combos
on the inside, he clearly was at long range, I'd agree... Whitaker was far more one-dimensional (jab-jab-jab-jab-jab) as a welterweight than he had been at his peak
Sly makes a compelling argument for Floyd but Norris UD is the most likely outcome. Floyd would have to be very cautious against Terry.
