On a good night for Duran, this is far from a foregone conclusion... With Norris's utterly shit chin, his monumental overconfidence, etc., The possibility of him being KOd is very high
I think that norris fuck him up, and i dont even think that duran has the power to really hurt norris with one punch at 154
Duran from the Moore fight would fuck Norris up. I know it's easy to see the Benitez fight at 154 and pick Norris, but at the end of the day, Norris wasn't as good as Benitez.
I would put huge money on Norris against Benitez. I know his resume doesnt really support this, but i think he was a better fighter than Benitez. Should have had a much better career
I'd lean towards Duran. Norris was better at 154 but Duran could certainly hurt him and if he hurt him good he could certainly finish. I could see Norris winning a wide UD over 12 if he doesn't get clipped too bad though. Maybe people over rate how vulnerable or fragile Norris was but its not like he doesn't deserve it.
What's Being Overlooked is How DAUNTING a Task Norris' OFFENSE Would Be for Duran... Norris was Big, Strong, Fast, Aggressive and he Tended to Start QUICKLY...Tommy Hearn's Punch Resistance was ALWAYS Suspect, yet Duran NEVER Layed a Glove On Him...Norris Wasn't as Looooooooooong as Hearns, but he Would ALSO Have a Size Advantage...And Like Hearns, he'd Look to IMPOSE Himself on Duran Early... Hearns NEVER Allowed Duran to Get INTO the Fight...Norris COULD Exploit Duran the Same Way, @ '54... REED:mj:<strike></strike>
That last sentence is where you're not considering this undisputed fact.... Terry Norris wasn't in the same universe as Tommy Hearns.
NEVER Said He Was...Doesn't Mean Norris is 100% INCAPABLE of Exploiting Duran in Similar Ways... Davey Moore WASN'T In the Same Universe as Terry Norris Either...Didn't Stop You from Using Duran-Moore as Evidence Duran Would BEAT Norris, Did It???.... REED:mj:
I'd give prime Davey Moore an EXCELLENT chance at cleaning Terry's clock. Duran couldn't do jack with Hearns because Tommy was 6'2 with the reach of a heavyweight, blinding handspeed, one of the best jabs in the history, and arguably THE most potent right hand in history P4P. Norris was 5'9 with alligator arms, very good, but not devastating power, and far less disciplined than Hearns with a much shakier chin. I don't have much faith in Terry keeping a cool head in the face of Duran's mind games. It's POSSIBLE, but the most likely scenario I see is Duran out-smarting Norris, pulling him into his kinda fight. Terry tries to prove he's more macho than Duran and fights him, but as usual, he forgets that he has the chin of a teenage girl. Duran by late KO.
100% agreed. Norris is live, but he's the type of fighter who looked better than he actually was. He could spring an upset here (and even in an easy fight) but gun to my head, I'd pick Duran
Norris was in no way, shape, or form better than Benitez. I used to be a lot higher on Terry Norris in my youth. Over the years, the more I see and really analyze him, my opinion has dropped. He was an EXTREMELY talented fighter, offensively. But his chin, his mental lapses, and his inability to keep his cool where huge concerns. Not to mention, his best wins came against formerly great corpses. The Benitez that beat Palomino, Hope, and Duran was a tier above ANY version of Terry Norris.
Norris would be favored, and rightfully so, but given that Moore had good power in his right hand, and above average handspeed, it's far from a given for Terry.
