Brutal. Anyone even attempted it? Daily: 25 x Chin-ups 50 x Deadlifts (with 40-60kg barbell) 50 x Press-ups 50 x Jump-ups (on 24" box) 50 x Floor-wipers 50 x Single-arm clean-&-press (with 14-16kg dumbells/kettlebells) 25 x Pull-ups Aim is to do it in fastest time possible...
The chins I can do, but I usually hit the wall after 21 or so. I'd need to stop and go for the last 4 reps.
Personally, I can do some deadlifts, pushups I can easy, kettlebell/dumbell lift-n-press - yes, box-jumpers and to some extent, floorwipers...but chin-up and pullups? Forget it. I don't think I can do 5 of either...I'm struggling at 2 reps :bangh: But looking at those guys physiques in the '300' movie, I can see how 6-8 weeks of doing this workout 5x a week cut the mustard...
Keep in mind that their physiques were CGI-enhanced. Schwarzenegger wanted to hire the trainer who got them in such good shape, and the director of 300 said something along the lines of "Trainer? We spent good money on special effects to make them look that good in the movie."
I think the Director was joking... No SFX here, these guys are in shape: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/efSYlfCbTPY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
6'3" - 190lb - 34" waist - 23-25% BMI. Had a 'Well-Man' check-up 2 months ago and was told I was in 'excellent' shape for my height and build... but I just don't have the physical strength to perform pull-ups. As you'll know, chins and pullups are all about 'strength' and 'technique' - if you have these, it doesn't matter if you're 150lb or 250lb) Why - how many sets can you pull-up? And, for that matter - what's your 4x12 (sets x reps) for flat-benching? ::
:: Fair enough. Flat bench on a machine I can bench 4 sets or 12 reps at 280lbs. Of course it's much easier on a machine. Free weights....haven't done it in a while but probably about 60lbs less.
280lb @ 4 x 12? Very impressive... I pisses me off - cos the 'gym' I go to - it's cheap, it's 1km from my house but it's one of those 'fitness gyms' which try to cater for everyone, so for some bizarre reason, they have everything except a chin/pullup bar and Olympic barbell, FFS! :notallthere: Consequently, it's even harder to attempt pullups on the highest bar of a Smith-Machine...which I hate. So, it's either swap gyms or carry on with lat pulldowns... :dunno:
