I've waited a while to launch this, and I do so with trepidation, but...

Amir Khan can and will be a world class operator. He has hand speed to burn and has all the potential in the world.

He's only 21, and already ranked by almost all of the sanctioning bodies worth a damn.

No-one is more of a Werren hater than I. He is a motherfucker and will protect Amir to the hilt, of that there is no doubt. And let it be known, that unless the boy learns to keep his left hand high to protect that vulnerable chin of his, he is toast...

I think he will learn. Moreover, he is being badly underrated nowadays. People are acting like he is a bum, ala Audley Harrison. The comparison is unfair and foolish.

I may live to regret this, but herewith MTF launches the AMIR KHAN bandwagon. Within two years, I'll bet he has a LEGITIMATE WC belt. I'd go so far as to say that a fight with Juan Diaz or Nate Campbell in the next six months would be a 50/50 pick 'em fight. I kid you not.

    Anyone else in??? :dunno:

Count me out, he's nothing but handspeed and a marketing campaign.

He can't fight for shit on the inside, he leaps about the ring like a small child on christmas morning, often straight backwards with his hands below his chin and more importantly - he's too fucking STUPID to ever correct these things. I pay as much attention to a young fighters interviews as his fights, try to see if there's the spark of intelligence and steel top fighters have - Khan is as dumb as a fucking post. He's a 22 year old child. Don't get me wrong, Warren'll get him a world title and he might end up being genuinely world class on physical gifts alone but his skills and boxing brain are God-awful so I have no interest in watching him. I'd rather watch a fighter like Alfonzo Gomez who might have ZERO physical gifts but has the brains and dedication to learn to make the most of them.

I wish the best for the eastern billa, but he must realise, fighting out of Britain, is a bad omen for being EXPOOOOOOOOOOOOSED.

i was a fan back in the amateur days, pre-Athens....but once the bandwagon went into overdrive (with FW and ITV at the wheel)...i swiftly hit the eject button....kind of like a band you like when no one else has heard them but when they go big that appreciation turns to disdain, a bit like The Kooks or something

...so that's a no, i'm on the 'i want the amir khan bandwagon to crash' bandwagon....anyone want in?!?!

I have only seen the khan a few times, but you state your case convincingly indeed! I will go in on principle. The principle being that Haye, Khan, Chavez Junior, etc are out future and the sooner they can do it the better for all of us. So why not give them some support? So yeah put me down.

I think it would be good for the sport to have a champion of South East Asian ethnicity, as I dont believe there is one at the moment,.. we've got plenty of stiff, white, cracker, redneck, chump EURO motherfuckers who are all overrated, alongside Arabs and blacks that make up the higher weights, hispanics and Asians dominate the lower weights, so an eastern boy will do very well as a further symbol of diversity in this sport.

He's not south east asian you flid.

By the way, Hut is 100% correct. Handspeed and big marketing campaign. That's it.

You'll soon see he doesn't have the toughness, skills, chin, craft, smarts etc to compete at the highest level.

This is the biggest worry by far.

I don't know if you can say he isn't tough, though. When Limond dropped him HARD, he got back up and splattered him all over the ring for three minutes, broke his jaw and the fight was stopped.

People forget that he is only young and relatively raw. Experience will give him much more in terms of ring smarts, inside fighting and ring craft generally. And he has to learn to keep that fucking left hand up, because if he doesn't, he'll get stretched badly one of these days.

I don't even need to go into the ITV/Werren bullshit. My opinions on this are well documented and, needless to say, I think it is a disgrace. The sooner he shifts his ass to (the not much better, but better) Setanta, the better for all concerned. Comparisons to Ray Leonard at this stage are hilarious, insulting and utterly preposterous.

I might have done, to be fair.

I changed my mind though. I was impressed with the way he dealt with St Clair and Kristiansson and I do see improvement each time he fights.

Of course, to make me look particularly dumb, Michael Gomez will ICE him later tonight. Just watch...

Knocked down, possible busted rib in the 4th - but he's also knocked Gomez down twice.
    Khan wins in 6.

    Amir Khan: world-class.

Knocked down in the 2nd, hurt by a bodyshot in the 4th round. Khan won in the 6th round on a ref stoppage, a bit early.

No - Ive just watched it.
Dropped in the 2nd, on wobbly legs for the next minute and then received a nasty bodyshot which really hurt him in the 5th.

Against a shot fighter who's been doing 5-rounders for the last 2 years.

Their reaction was like, "Errr....looks we got this one wrong".

McGuigan looked uncomfortable when asked by a pensive/confused Rosenthal about when Khan might now be ready for a title fight.
"Well, I saif before this fight with Gomez he'd be ready for a world title fight fight after this but now maybe two fights" :notallthere:

And that old chestnut of 'still on a learning curve' got mentioned 2-3 times, similar to how they do/did with Andy Murray.

    Wankers, one-and-all.

Shit, why did I forget to watch

I told all you gimps that Khan wasn't world class.

Kahn is barely good enough to beat born-in-a-car Irish Manc Pikey Gomez, yet Arben just "can't see how Pacquiao would beat khan" :atu:

I don't even have anything against khan, I mean he has the IQ of a fencepost and he's not particularly charismatic, but he's not detestable either. He's just not that good, another big load of hype.
