A personal compilation based on whhat I have watched and liked. You can post your own lists, but be aware that I am always right, so don't come with "lol what he picked!" bullshit.

    Spanish/Foreign Language

    1. Camila (Argentina) - based on a true story about the affair between a Jesuit priest and a young rich girl.
    2. Macario (Mexico) Fascinating supernatural moral tale
    3. Los Olvidados (The Young and the Damned) Mexico-This 1950 film about juvenile delinquency was controversial for its brutal realism. It hasn't missed its impact 70 years later.
    4. Pan's Laberynth - if you haven't watched this yet, what are you waiting for?
    5. La Femme Nikita (France)- the original French version, not the rip-off reboot
    6. La Perla (The Pearl) Mexico- the best adaptation of the Ernest Hemingway book. Pedro Almendariz deserved a fucking Oscar for his performance.
    7. Amelie (France) This is all about the main character's weird view of the world. The actress made the film with her tour de force performance.
    8. Rashomon (Japan) - one of the best films ever made of any genre. Period.
    9. Aguirre: the wrath of God (Germany) -Werner Herzog's masterpiece about conquistadors search for el Dorado with catastrophic results.
    10. The Killer (Hong Kong) - John Woo's action classic remains the most influential film of the last 25 years. Still none of its imitators have come close to this fast paced power pack film.

    3. The Shining
    4. The Exorcist
    5. The Wicker Man

SOTL maybe more of a psych thriller. But Psycho imo is both.

Psycho birthed the slasher subgenre. It definitely belongs in horror.

I thought about including The Dead Zone, but I definitely think Dead Zone is more thriller than horror.

I guess movies like Alien, The Thing, and The Fly can be used in both sci-fi and horror.

A historical list is a joke without Bridge on The River Kwai and El Cid.

El Cid takes a steaming, hot shit on Spartacus.

I'm sure he means Infernal Affairs aka the film The Departed copied off of.

He doesn't mean the cop thriller with Richard Gere and Andy Garcia.
