Ever? Right now? https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/691996 Deryvachenko is 14-4 which looks very scrubby until you look at who he fought and how/when he fought them. Guys like Troy Dorsey are unknown to most fans but fought everyone and might have even beaten some of the guys he "lost" to. I'm not talking about guys like Bruce the mouse Strauss , guys who are paid losers as such. Some guys like the Ill fated Howard Clarke actually straddled both Worlds between being underrated and capable of big wins that launched them into title fights (beat US amateur star Jason Papillon ,fought Vargas at MSG for IBF 154 title) before very much crossing over into the paid-opponent class
Ross Purritty beat Wlad so we know he came to fight. He was also taking Vitali the distance and had got a draw with Tommy Morrison and dropped decisions to Byrd and Sanders. He might be a guy who was borderline paid-opponent who threatened to be an unlucky guy with a scrubby resume. Carl Thompson was one of these strange cases who always seemed to have "opponent" status and the system against him. He never seemed to actually be promoted as "The Guy" but had others like Rothmann or Haye or Dunstan or Eubank brought in to destroy him. People always thought he was on the verge of being finished so he wound up with a lot of losses but a lot of big wins too all against very "reputable" names. Johnny Nelson KO5 Thompson might look bad but it doesn't reveal how early the stoppage was and how Nelson ran like all hell from the rematch.. Thompson ended up 34-6 which wouldn't be good enough to get you onto the television today but he was always being set up to be some sort of a fall guy and a lot of his 34 wins are quality.
Jimmy Young was 35-18-3 when he retired and 17-4-2 when he fought Ali Mike Weaver was 19-8 when he fought Holmes Maurice Harris ended with 26-22-3. Beat several good fighters and took a dive against others
Yep blast from the past. Fought Hatton AND TITO ....cannot think of anyone else who fought both guys OTOMH.
Also became a world champ, beat Roger Mayweather and gave an excellent performance against Pea. Awful looking record but a quality fighter.
Fought Whitaker, Frankie Randall 2-3x, Roger Mayweather, Vince Phillips, the ATG James Page, one of the Ruelas, a true road warrior.
Angel Robinson GarcĂa 138 - 80 - 21 (55 KOs) Fought 6 HOF fighters such as Roberto Duran, Jose Napoles, Ken Buchanan, Ismael Laguna, Wilfred Benitez, Eddie Perkins.
Another hardluck story guy. Probably would have been champ but for that era he found himself in. Convinced he'd be a multi titlist today. Vince Phillips was another guy of that time. He got down to 140 to escape that situation after Ike jabbed him to bits. It caught up to him in the end but he was ironically turning in great performances against very good fighters after his shocking loss to the scrubby Terron Millet. Millet LOST to Gatti but after Phillips-who was better than Gatti- Phillips was still turning in performances vs Oliveira, Hatton.
Just looking at Phillips record......Hatton, Forrest, Oliveira, Mitchell ....all after he lost to Millet, never stopped by any of those guys. Phillips even fought two other guys who made it onto Fernando Vargas resume....Romallis Ellis was one of them.
Hard luck? Ruben Castillo had four title fights. He went 0-4. But his opponents were: Salvador Sanchez Alexis Arguello Julio Cesar Chavez Juan LaPorte
Lovemore Ndou 49-13 Canelo, Kermit, Brook, Paulie, Cotto, Witter, Sharmba Gave a few some scares never ko'd
