The Confession Killer - Netflix Documentary Series

Well, the one thing Netflix does seem to do well, is come up with these true crime documentaries every once in awhile. This is the story of Henry Lee Lucas.....either the most prolific serial killer in history, or a willing lackey for the Texas Rangers drive to clear murder cases, not only in Texas, but all across the country... depending on who you believe.

I hadn't known much about him prior to this, other then the movie "Henry - Portrait of a Serial Killer", was based on his supposed exploits.

It's less about a serial killer, and more about the amazing incompetence, willful ignorance, and downright petty spitefulness of people high up in the law enforcement circles of Texas.

5 part series, but it pretty much flies by.

Interesting, will have to take a look. Don't know much about the case either but remember some people believing he confessed to crimes he didn't commit simply so law enforcement could call their cases solved. Isn't he also thought to be the guy who murdered John Walsh's son or am i thinking of somebody else?

 

That was Lucas's running mate, Ottis Toole. Probably another sham confession.

Lucas and Toole were a really, really odd couple. Likely they committed plenty of crimes and might have actually deserved the death penalty for various things. Neither were particularly smart, though Lucas had a real knack for improvising imaginative stories and regurgitating evidence that had been shown to him in advance by the Rangers task force.

 

Yeah movies and TV shows often like to depict serial killers as having above average intelligence along with being very charismatic. They exist but i think they're more often the exception than the rule.

For every Ted Bundy there are five Ottis Toole's.

 

Lucas at best probably killed three people... Toole as well only a few although apparently there was a good deal of evidence of his involvement in the Walsh case

that their ludicrous tall tales were used to “close” so many cases is a massive stain on law enforcement... yes, it’s good that others said “wait a minute” but that initial willingness to use these two lying degenerate psychopaths to polish up the “solved” column should scare the fuck out of all of us

 

The most fucked up thing was that the ones who did say "wait a minute", ended up being targeted by law enforcement. Lawyers were openly extorted into giving false testimony on trumped up bribery charges against the Texas D.A. that pushed back against the Rangers, and ended up costing the state a $58 million civil judgement.............and still, the Law Enforcement figures involved faced no consequences themselves.

That asshole Bob Prince is still willingly giving interviews saying those were all clean cases and that Lucas killed hundreds, and anybody that says otherwise is just trying to stain the name of the Texas Rangers.

 

Exactly and this is supposed to be one of the elite forces in the country

 

I had never heard of corruption in Texas before this documentary...

Well I haven't seen the movie (obviously). But movies are not factual accounts necessarily for those of you that don't know.

 

I never saw the movie "Titanic", but I'm pretty sure a big fucking ship sunk with a bunch of people on it in the North Atlantic in 1912, after hitting an iceberg.

 

Maybe that's just speculation though................
