I will be there covering the fight. I have seen both fighters live many times , the worst was when Lujan had his ear popped off three rows in front of me by Tony(had to be plaster looking back now)..worst thing I ever saw in all my life years other than Paret beaten against the ropes. The folks going with me associated with Margarito, but I am a Cotto fan to the end....GS

 

I was at the first fight. Cotto had better hope Margarito is finished, that's all I can say.

He was winning rounds but losing the fight, even early.

Several reports of weight problems and a bad camp leading up to the Mosley fight has left me a little skeptical that he loaded his gloves for Cotto. Not saying he did or didn't, I just don't know.

But he was able to walk through a hell of a lot more fire vs. Cotto than he was against Mosley six months later. Word is he was really living it up after beating Cotto.

It's a bad style for Cotto... Miguel is a little too jumpy when he's "boxing" and he's got a bad habit of fading badly under pressure down the stretch.

Margarito could be finished though... he hasn't fought since Pacquiao literally broke his face. I really hope Cotto wins.

 

If Cotto loses I will be like in front of my TV.

 

God I detest Margarito. Sadistic sociopathic bastard with the worst haircut in boxing since Jorge Luis Gonzalez.

I hope Cotto gives him a Jones-Hall type beating.

 

Styles do make fights cause I think Cotto fought brilliantly moving backwards against Mosely. In the Tony fight the body shots with plaster outdid Cotto. As you know Miguel is well built but in reality a small guy. The Boricua chicks call him Miguelito affectionatley little Miguel)-..GS

First face off I've seen that actually looks worth watching. It becomes the interesting, taut dynamic it's always supposed to be but only can be when you throw genuine mutual hatred into the mix.

cotto has every reason to be pissed, but so does margarito if he didn't cheat in their first fight. sucks that both guys are shot, but i still think it's gonna be a fun fight.

 

Cotto is a fairy, but he's a good guy. And who gives a fuck if his personality is dull? His style isnt.

How you could root for that utter piece of deer shit over Miggy is beyond me.

I hope Cotto beats him half to death. The only reason I didnt say TO death is because a ring death on a major PPV card would be terrible for the sport.

So, I hope that Cotto hospitalizes him. Then, on the way outta the hospital Phony gets ran over by a bus.

I have to admit, for this fight and this fight alone, I love the fact that Margarito has accepted the fact that everyone hates his guts, Cotto included. Seems to be thriving in the role, and Cotto is coming out of his skin more and more as time passes by.

Gives a true grudge match feel to this rematch. Can't wait.

That said, Max (once again) comes across as a fan more so than as someone who does this for a living. Nothing wrong with loving your job, but there is a line and he's been struggling mightily to maintain it lately (including last night's broadcast, which had me switching to HBO Latino by the third round)

 

Kellerman thinks his opinion counts. It does. To himself. Not me. I'll give Teddy Atlas credit for this much, he tries to tell you what one fighter is attempting to do, or how he is setting things up. He doesn't try to tell you how lucky you are to be sharing his company on this fine evening and is everyone sitting comfortably and aren't you glad you stayed in for this one etc etc.

Everybody knows the sub-script or sub-text to this one. Its Cotto trying to avenge what he feels was an illegal beating by Margarito. Let the fight make itself. Let the fans get into it. Don't tell us how glad YOU are to be there. As the face-off unfolds, we should be FORGETTING you are there. You are there in an official capacity only, not to tell us how much fun you are having.

The guy makes me sick honestly. I'm an easy going guy, not really a stickler for rules or "professionalism" that much, and I also LOVE enthusiasm generally.

But Max irks me more than any other broadcaster I've ever seen I think. I find his whole personality, character, demeanor, and absurdly subjective, sycophantic style of broadcasting quite hideous.

I actually find it much better when someone like Lampley at least operates under the guise of being an objective or professional broadcaster/commentator.

I find Max absurd and all round dislikeable. His fight picks are generally awful too.

It seems to have subsided, but I'm sure you all remember the Kellerman curse. He used to pick literally almost every big fight wrong.

 

I love it when he swells. I hope he reaches a zenith of swelling when he fights Cotto. I hope he takes swollen to a whole new level of swolleness.
