I'm sure we're all in agreement it is at the worst it's ever been, bar maybe six/seven years ago. However, that doesn't mean IMO, we can't enjoy some of the fights which have been made. Even though it's a shitty move on Warrington's part, Martinez vs Warrington II will be a war. Conlan vs Wood is an excellent, evenly matched fight and should really be for the WBA. Russell making his bi-yearly appearance against Mark Magsayo, which should be fun. Any fights you'd like to see? Personally, Lara vs Navarrate is one of my favourite would-be matches in boxing. But Navarrete was in two FOTY candidates, so I'm down to see him in with anyone. Selfishly, I'd love to see Galahad and Warrington in with Lara, Navarrate or Russell. Just to see them get smashed up.
Lara-Nav would be a solid matchup, but I see Nav being a level above guys like Warrington and Lara. Featherweight is currently the deadest its ever been in all my years following the sport. The first time I can say I really don't give a shit about any featherweight matchup. I think TR might be working on making Valdez-Navarrette, but that's at 130.
I used to know this division by heart now I coukdnt name the top 10 much less the best fighters in it.... I think it was the old Hamed/Barrera era I knew best. I was shocked when Morales went up to 126 and went the distance in his first title fight vs Guty Espadas. Today, Espadas would probably be the man at 126.
You overrate the living fuck outta Navarette. Espadas went 12 with a FAR better fighter than Nav in Morales. What quality fighters is this guy "wasting"?
People have forgotten how good this division used to be. Nobody who goes 12 with that version of Morales is getting blown out by any 126 lb fighter around today. Just not happening.
Put him in with Stevenson and its gonna be one sad night for you. A "hippety hopper" beating the Hell outta Navarette.
Navarrate is a beast, but let's not got too far. He's really unproven. Espadas showed a lot against Morales.
