Just read the new Tarver interview on BT. Pretty much to sum it all up he bashed Lacy for pulling out, called out Woods and Green and said he would fight one of those two next, and promised after that he'll FINALLY fight Dawson. I'll be glad if he fights either Woods, or Green though. Both those guys are better than Lacy anyway. Dawson will tap that ass though and I cant wait! If all goes well, Bad Chad will take out Johnson, and rid the boxing world of milkdud before the year is out! WAR DAWSON in 08!
If that happens, then all credit to Tarver. He'll have proven himself as more than just the man who KO'd an over the hill Roy. But it wont happen. Dawson will fuck him up!
The best part of the interview was Tarver still claiming to be light heavyweight champion because Hopkins didn't defend his belt.
BALDERDASH!!! ... PLENTY Of RJ Fans Noticed SLIPPAGE N him Around the Time of the Eric Harding & Derrick Harmon Fights, Back N 2000... REED
That's completely and utterly rediculous NOBODY said Roy slipped in those fights nobody said shit until he schooled Ruiz in the heavyweights... The first Tarver fight was a shock to all RJ fans and i'm one of the biggest. Roy wasn't shot in the Woods fight - he just didn't turn it up against Harmon, Harding plus those guys had an awkward style. What's next you noticed slippery in the first Griffin fight? Let's keep it real brother REED and don't lie to yourself about Roy.
Correction... ASTUTE RJ Fans (Which Apparenly DOESN'T Include YOU) NOTICED Slippage N Roy as Faaaaaaaar Back as the Harding & Harmon Fights...Others Noticed it a Fight or 2 LATER...Either Way, we're Talking 2000, 2001... Guys like MUZSE, DONNYbrook, JAKE, TAP, REED & Others Spent MUCH Time Discussing that Very Topic... The Harding Fight SUCKED, but it Wasn't like Roy NEVER Had Bad Performances...So EVERYBODY Expected Roy to Look STELLAR N his Next Fight (Harmon)& Even Roy All but GUARANTEED he'd Look STELLAR... PRIOR to then, Roy RARELY if EVER Had Back to Back SUAR Performances, so when he DID Look SUAR vs Harmon, that was an UNDENIABLE Sign...There was NATHAN "Awkward" about Harmon's Style WHATSOEVER:nono: , Roy had just SLIPPED Past the Point of Being Able to Dial it Up on COMMAND... He was OFFICIALLY PAST his Prime...Being PAST Prime DOESN'T Mean that U CAN'T Revisit your PRIME on Occasion, it Means U CAN'T Do it w/the Same CONSISTENCY...U'd Probably Say Floyd Mayweather is STILL N his Prime as Well, Huh???....If So, U'd B WRONG... Your Griffin Comment is COMPLETELY UNnecessary...Just Cause YOU MISSED what PLENTY Of Others Caught DOESN'T Mean U have to B an ASSHOLE about it... REED has NO Reason to "Lie to Himself" about Roy...NOBODY has Watched Roy Fights as OFTEN or as CLOSELY as REED has:nono: ...By 2000-2001, Roy Jones was PAST his Best....What he had Left was MORE than Enough to REMAIN on Top for Awhile, but he was Still PAST his Absolute BEST... If U have the Time, Watch Roy's Fights N ORDER...It's Pretty Fucking OBVIOUS... REED
.... Interesting how all of these people saw Roy slipping and that he was shot going into the 2nd Tarver fight. I guess that's why I kept hearing about how Roy was going to "kill" and "demolish" Tarver. The truth is it's hard to say how much Roy had slipped going into the 2nd Tarver fight because Tarver knocked his out so quick. Roy looked real good until Tarver knocked his ass out.
There's a HUGE Difference btwn Being "SHOT" & "PAST PRIME", Val... REED ISN'T Saying Roy was "SHOT":nono: ...Shit, PHYSICALLY Roy Jones Still ISN'T "Shot"...He Might B MENTALLY though... Floyd Mayweather is PAST his PRIME N REED's Opinion, but Obviously he ISN'T "Shot" Either... Roy WAS NOT "Shot" when Tarver KO'ed him, but he WAS PAST his PRIME...Again, there IS a Difference... REED
CLEARLY, Muhammad Ali was "PAST his PRIME" Post Exile, but he wasn't "SHOT" til Sometime AFTER the Foreman Fight... Again, there IS a Difference btwn "Shot" & "Past Prime"... REED would Argue that Manny Pac is "PAST his Prime", but he's Certainly Not "Shot"... REED
when you say taht someone is over the hill, it means they are basically done, and RJJ was not a shot fighter when he got knocked out by tarver.
It's Funny How THE SAME Guys who INSIST that Bernard was DRASTICALLY DIFFERENT when Roy Beat him ALSO INSIST that Roy WASN'T Past his Best when Tarver KO'ed him... REED::
Was Bernard "Drastically" Different when Roy Beat him???... NO:nono: ... Different, Sure, but Not DRASTICALLY... The Thing is, Peeps CLING to the Belief that Bernard was "Green", Almost to the Point of ERASING that Loss to Roy from his Record ... AGAIN, Bernard ISN'T "Drastically" Different than he was Then AND it's Not like Roy HIMSELF Didn't Improve as Well... REED
when you say someone is over the hill it means they are past their peak. you go up the hill, get to the top, and when you start going down the other side you are "OVER THE HILL"
I think we can all accept that the straw that broke RJ's back was the trip to 200+ and back again. That just multiplied any pre-existing slippage. It magnified all of his inherent problems to the extent that he was effectively there to be taken. None of this should be an excuse of course: Roy was well paid, did what he did of his own initiative, and took maybe one fraction of the risk that guys think he did by fighting a guy as BAD as Ruiz.
That´s why plenty of Roy fans, like say YOU, predicted Roy would demolish and rape Tarver in two rounds, more likely one round. :: ::
I can't believe some of these people are actually serious when they say that Roy was still at his best when he fought Tarver... Roy was clearly not the same. Sure he was still Roy but definitely past his best and Antonio Tarver just happened to be lucky enough to catch him at the right time. Prime Jones beats the shit out of Tarver the same way he did Pazienza.
