Is that Floyd tore his ass apart with body shots, which is what started the beating in round 8. Floyd is a highly underrated body puncher, and this fight proved once and for all that Hatton is hurtable downstairs.
I think if anything the Collazo fight proved that Hatton couldn't take those body shots. But yes, Floyd knows how to work that body. He broke Judah down big time with those body punches and I believe he even stunned DLH with one.
I don't think anybody mentioned it per se because it was implied by "beating him at his own game," which has been the common way to put the fight. I thought that encompassed ALL orf the infighting, which included body punching, as well as the round he obviously thought he was going to make Hatton cry by throwing the jab from the outside to the body. Hatton usually doesn't parry shots, but he was quick to get his hands down for those.
Actually I made that point in at least two other threads. But hey, it's worth mentioning again. And again. And again.
I'd like to comment on this. But I can't. :nono: I was drunker than a skunk during the main event. All I remember is that Hatton did pretty well at the beginning, there was a lot of holding from both guys, Hatton got a point taken away (I can't even remember why) and Floyd took over around 8 and knocked him down twice and the ref stopped in 10. opcorn:
floyd is a complete fighter. only thing he doesnt do is throw punches in bunches, but he doesnt have to.
yeh i think it's been mentioned on every single thread :: after a while Floyd had Hatton taking a step back by jabbing to his body
Hatton went in too confident with the idea of bullying floyd, I know he was surpised of how strong PBF is.
One more thing that I haven't heard or read is that Ricky Hattons corner waived the white flag. They threw that shit in just as Cortez started waiving his arm to stop the fight. I'm also wondering if anyone saw Mab's face when Hatton was getting pummeled in rd 8. Check out how he was covering his eyes. I'll Holla 5000
The other thing no one mentions is that PBF not only overcame and KOed Hatton, he also had to fight against Kauki's and Double L's curse. Combined curse from these two is extremely powerful and strong. If the curse wasn't so strong, PBF wouldn't've waited until the 10-th to KO Hatton. He would've opened up around 2-3 round and battered Hatton into bolivion.
funny thing is Mab only showed up cause Hatton is his boy. Mab don't hang out with the Golden Mafia anymore. :dunno:
one way or the other, you can be sure Hatton will end up fighting for G (if he isn't already). the only question is whether or not his reputation will be boosted first by a victory over the Golden Boy himself - Golden Boy in his Golden years - he who likes to fight smaller guys so he can control the pace and not be knocked out due to his crummy stamina.
I noticed this- it was mentioned in some UK papers too, and it reminded me of something... ...maybe I was drunk (actually, skip the 'maybe'), but I seem to remember Billy Graham taking not the slightest bit of notice of what Hatton was saying in his interview after the fight, generally looking like he couldn't give a toss what Hatton was saying and actually coming across like he was glad the whole business was over and his boy was not badly hurt. I dunno, I got the distinct impression that Graham never seemed to believe from the get go? :dunno:
