The dude just won a championship in dominating fashion and you want to discredit him? He kicked the guys arm so hard he broke it. He may not be a ground fighter but he's strong enough and has enough wrestling technique to stay off his back most times. I think with his power, timing, and speed he'll be a formadible opponent for most of the top guys.

Cung Le isn't rubbish. He definitely needs to work on his defense. That one right hand from Shamrock messed him up badly. He does have good kick selection, good speed and combinations, but his power doesn't seem to be quite there.

I first saw Cung Le ages ago, in a sanshou competition, years and years ago.

I thought he looked good. A little too flashy, but then martial arts is generally form over function so that's to be expected.

However, you can tell that his career has mostly been spent in NON professional fighting, because he doesn't have much power. He has a point scoring style.

He is a good fighter though, by no means is he rubbish.

:laughing: 50 years ago Shamrock was the best fighter in an emrging sport, where he took advantage of a lot of fighters without the benefit of cross training. He was the first real versatile MMA fighter in the big time.

SHamrock hasn't improved a bit and has spent half those 50 years on the shelf, training fighters and talking shit about fighters. He's a name, nothing more.

i think you're trying to twist things a bit.....I dont think Frank was much better than bottom of the top 10 in that division to begin with, but yeah, cung beat him fair and square...I thought Frank's boxing would be able to stun Cung enough for Frank to get him to the ground and work subs from there....Thats how I would have called it from the start....So thats not what happened, big fucking deal....Cung still isnt a real world class guy yet...When he beats a someone with real worth let me know....

Frank beating Baroni dont mean shit....Look at Baroni's record over the last 3 years and tell me thats worth shit....

Put Cung in there with Anderson, Franklin, Okami, Lawler, Kang, Lindland (if he ever fights again), Hendo....he gets beaten within two rounds....

Cung is a blast to watch, and he has great standup for breaking a guy down, and is gonna be really hard to get to the ground, but he aint nowhere near the best in the world at 185

I was at the fight, Frank Shamrock fought the stupidest fight he could have ever fought. He basically gave the fight away by standing with Cung and he deserved the loss for being such a moron.
