Total Recall and it's not close.

Total Recall is among the best Arnold movies, Running Man has no value apart from stupidy (the same way as Commando). The novel is pretty good but the movie captures none of that

    Exactly

I'm not a huge fan of it but TR is obviously and objectively a better made and better executed film

I love both films. Total Recall is an overall better film but Running Man is very enjoyable with all of those stalker characters: Sub Zero, Buzzsaw, Fireball and Dynamo.

You're being a little hard on Running Man, then again I haven't read the novel.

Total Recall is a scifi classic with a great plot based on a story by scifi legend Phillip K. Dick. Director Paul Verhoeven in top form here with a great soundtrack score by Basil Poledouris.

Running Man looked cheaply made even when it was released and looks worst now. A brainless film loosely based on a book that Stephen King wrote under the alias of Richard Bachman and when the film was made he insisted it should be credited to Richard Bachman, not himself. I didn't liked it when I watched it upon its release and will never watch it again.

The RM book is a good fun read as you'd expect

The movie is, as ugo said, good only as comedy

    I loved Running Man.
    Great entertainment.
    "Where is Buzzsaw?"
"He had to split" (After Arnold rammed the chainsaw through his balls)

    Or after he burned Fireball
    "What a hothead"

People here totally missing the most important aspect of The Running Man: vision.

Consider, 'a world beset by a collapsing economy, the US media conspires with the government to keep the population in-check with a combination of heavy-handed policing and a steady stream of vapid reality TV shows. Meanwhile, one of the most powerful men in the world is the host of a reality TV show'.

Why we may be living in the future of The Running Man
